UK Tournies/Comps
« on: August 28, 2013, 03:30:50 AM »
Hi guys
I recently got back into 40k and have played a few times at a club in London. I'd really like to enter a tournament later in the year. Does anyone know the best place to find upcoming events?

Thanks very much
Luke

I don't know about where's best for events in general, but events in Bristol tend to get publicised here -- Spoils of War is coming at the end of October, and that promises to be a very fun weekend (keep in mind that if you book early, your train ticket should be quite cheap).

Where about are you based?

I know a club in Berkshire which regularly runs, campaigns, tournaments events.

there are other clubs in the mid-lands I'm hoping to explore as I'm moving soon and as Koval said there's a strong west country presence here.

Look on the GW website and go up to Throne of Skulls in Nottingham. It's a way to go from down south, but I went to one over the summer and have to say it was very good. I would definitely go back there.

Try the websites of South London Warlords (Dulwich), ClaphamWarGaming, CrossGamingClub (Southwark) or Dark Sphere (Waterloo). Dark Sphere and Cross Gaming would appear to be your best bet of a tournament. Try looking up the Gaming Club Network as well.

Whereabouts in London are you. There are a variety of clubs that will host small events, and if you drive there are a few places outside of London that are worth the drive too.

Here's a link to a page on the warhammer forum that is dedicated to UK events:
The Warhammer Forum • View forum - 40k Events

It's kept nicely up to date and most of the bigger events get listed there, for smaller local events your best bet is to frequent the local stores.
