So we played a 2 on 2 last week. My black legion and bugs vs death guard and orks. Each 750 pts doing a objective based game. They got 17 pts to our 13 but fun was had and I got to use the new stuff. Any how I got home that night and decided I want a dark apostle. With no money to use I remembered a model I got in a white dwarf mag a while back and converted him. So introducing my new dark apostle. Que music....

Dug thru my bits box and found an old chaos back pack and a chaos warrior cloak plus my buddy bought me the new chaos space marine box, he's a great guy, got the pistol and maul from it. Need to name him, hmm. Suggestions?

That's a fantastic conversion.  I particularly like the way that you have posed the model to be pointing menacingly towards his target with that maul.

As for naming, as Dark Apostles were, at least originally, exclusive to the Word Bearers, I'm not sure that I'd make his name favour any particularly Chaos God.  [Insert name] Chosen of Lorgar might work, but it's rather unoriginal.  How about some alliteration?  Drazhar, Demagogue of Darkness might work, for example.

I've always liked the Slaughter Priest model, and I think he'd make a natural Dark Apostle with some work. I think you've done that conversion work some great justice. He's even got the mace!

Got nothing for names :P.

So, sorry been dry around here. Work and painting commissions has really hit me. Anywho, I finally sat and painted for me self last night and finally got my black coach done.

Thanks. Started with 2 layers of cork, tearing out sections to look like ruts carved out by wheels in wet ground. Based in doom bull brown, then dry brushed some lighter browns. I use model train ballast glued in open areas to look like dirt/gravel. Been doing this for years. I'm still thinking about adding some grass around the tomb stones.

Really cool looking centre piece model you have there Dread. The ethereal look has been executed brilliantly. I think that the base is also terrific.

If it were me, I'd probably have done the coach in regular colours, as opposed to ethereal, so that the characters were the ghosts that happened to be pulling a corporeal coach. That's just me though and you choices don't detract from what is an excellent model.

Great stuff Dread! Good to see you painting your own stuff!

Thanks guys. Yup Loosh, I've been fighting with that since I got the base coat on it. When I started the base the other night and the metallic trim, I kept dropping my brush. That sucked so I just did the base, afraid I'd mess it up. Still a possibility in the future.  Thanks for everyone's feed back.

I might not get to paint my models all the time but being a taxidermist now, I get some interesting jobs in. Did this for a customer tonight.

So, been playing KT again since elites dropped. FINALLY my banshees can be used. Now I stripped the old colors of 20 of my gals and have tried to come up with a new paint scheme for my KT unit but I just keep going back to the scheme I've used for many years. Need some suggestions please.

I'm not much of a trophy hunter, but that's pretty cool 8). Fancy paint on it!

As for Kill Team, I'm glad Aspect Warriors are usable again!

As for color scheme, what about dark grey, sunburst yellow, and bleach bone accents?

Totally understandable. What you've achieved is still epic bud, so I wouldn't worry about it at all.

That skull looks freaking sweet by the way.

Awesome base for the Slaughter Queen, Dread, I really like that one! Nothing screams sacrificial like a pile of skulls lol.

You planning on painting them soon? What scheme are you going for?

Right after the new witch models came out I started using blue. Never been happy with it so got that far and never finished painting them.

So as soon as I have the funds I will get more to be able to field a proper force.

Yeah I think the blue is too bright for worshipers of Khaine, it doesn't exactly scream bloody murder lol.

I think I'm going to just go black boots and cloth with metal armor bits and red hair. Highlight the black of coarse and go with a regular flesh tone instead of such a pale one. Dunno yet, waiting for inspiration. I'm working on some drawings right now so painting is sidelined for a bit. Thanks for coming by here everyone.

Got my few sisters models done.

Excellent looking sisters, I love the choice of hair color and how the facial features came out. Their faces look soft and fair, where as the GW schemes have them a bit harsh to me. Amazing how a paint job can change how one views that.

Excellent work! 8)
