well I've been considering rebasing my craftworld eldar, so here is a first crack at a base for the forgeworld Avatar of Khaine. I think they need some sort of texture though...

I might tinker around with all the symbols sitting on top of like a Copple stone or something, kind of like the silver tower bases.. hmmm...

Left has a raised Khaine symbol, with everything else is groove, the one on the right is everything grooved out.

still waiting for the price of 3d printers to drop a bit, but why not form a queue while I'm waiting lol.

Those are absolutely amazing. I do prefer the fully recessed image. I imagine those being painted up as stone or concrete with a magma glow coming up from the runes. That's a stellar concept mage.

Cool concept, Mage! I agree with DoW's preference for the recessed base. You could do some bright furnace scheme with that ;D.

These are beautiful designs.  I like both, but my preference would also be for the fully recessed version.  I look forward to seeing how you decide to use these moving forward.

well more tinkering keeping with the craftworld theme, thought I'd give a 25mm base a shot, thought a walk way might look something like this.

The 2nd ed drawing of the dire Avenger has a walk way with ovals, but looked a little plain, not sure about the wood grain effect.

well with any luck the US black Friday sales might see one of the entry level resin printers go on sale :)

The designs look great; if you want to add some variation without to the stonework without adding woodgrain you could use some gloss/satin varnish to make certain parts look more polished than others.

That's some absolute graphic design shenanigans, and I think it's going to pay off by dividends toward the end ;D. Keep up the great work.

sooo.. I managed to grab some Incubi and scourges from someone splitting the box set, I need to think more on the scourges, but made a start on the incubi, trying an obsidian rose scheme.

I also.. rediscovered some Tau I had from that edition that shall not be named ;)
so started finally putting some paint on.

The new generation Eldar models look like they are going to be around a broken maiden world feel, even the Dark Eldar might be headed that way. So I couldn't think of a good way to make the rubble fit into a living craftworld base style. Still interesting to have a tinker.

But I picked one of these up in the sales. Quick tip, don't use polyclay if you want a broken feel, it flexes and snaps rather than breaking. Apparently "earth" clay is better for that.. but I can now slowly progress the re-basing.

Whoa... those Incubi look really slick, Mage! Always loved the Obsidian Rose scheme, so sleek!

Also those T'au drones look awesome. Well done on achieving that crisp and clean white.

That Eldar rolling pin does look really great, shame that it doesn't have the properties you're searching for.

Keep it up, Mage! Cannot wait to see more!

8). The incubi look beautiful! The fish stick bun really looks nice, the right look for sure. Glad to see your progress. Keep it up.

That is one of the sleekest white painted miniatures I think I've seen in a good long while.

Well done, Mage, you should be proud of those ;D!

Hi Mage,

Just wondering if you're staying safe. I know there's some crazy wildfire that causing real problems for Australia.

Hope you and all Australians stay safe!

yeah, I'm all good, about an hours drive from any of the big fires, we just cop a lot of smoke/ash. My main stress is from trying to get my parents to come up and stay, they had a major fire front get within 10 miles to their North and have another one coming up from thee South, so far I've only been able to get them to stay over night a few times.

I have been busy getting the Tau force battle ready, got some people keen to take them on :)

Those are some good looking Tau, what kind of white are you using? Does it dry glossy or is that varnish?

It's a flat white undercoat.
2X Ultra Cover Primer Spray Product Page

There is no gloss/varnish involved.

I've since found a few video's where people use a gloss finish with washes to get into the super fine lines on tau infantry, bit late now lol,

sooo pointy ear bug bit me again...

Messing around with a custom farseer. The head looks funny as the neck from the original model is still on.

not convinced of the head just yet.. its not elfy enough, but a head covered by a helmet also looks a little off when the arms and shoulder are bare skin, just looks a little off.

Maybe some of bits from the new howling banshee kit might work better>

I'm sure you can find some off ebay :).

The facial expression looks overly aggressive and angry for an Eldar Farseer, so I concur that the head is not quite right.  Everything else looks very promising though.

That's a great base for a farseer, but I agree that the face might not be the best fit.
