So yesterday I went through my old DeathWing army that has not been played in three years ( I had plenty of CML termies and Cahinfists but no TH/SS termies at all. It was very old school. No tanks, no fast attack, no heavy, you get it. Just drop 'em in and light it up. I stopped playing them because I just could not fit in enough troops into a 1500 list. So I took out all the Termis with CML/Chainfists on them added in some regular troops in Power Armour and voila ... a list to test.
~LoganWing~
Logan Grimnar = 275
Njal StormCaller, Terminator Armour = 245
It seems pretty top heavy with the two HQs but both are really powwerhouses in their own right so I decided to test them out. I never know what power of Njal's I might need in a footslogging list. Strom Caller has been useful at times and it's not something I would take on a Rregular Rune Priest as an example.
Lone Wolf, Terminator, Chainfist, Stormshield = 85
Lone Wolf, Terminator, Chainfist, Stormshield = 85
It's a love/hate relationship. It never ceases to surprise me how much these guys can absorb before going down. They might be slow but so isd the rest of my army, lol. I'm playing a foot list in a mech edition!
Wolf Guard (10), Terminator(2) Chainfist/Cyclone Missile Launcher = 270
Wolf Guard (10), Terminator(2) Chainfist/Cyclone Missile Launcher = 270
Wolf Guard (10), Terminator(2) Chainfist/Cyclone Missile Launcher = 270
This is pretty versatile and designed so that I can split up the squads before hand and field up to six troop choices if I want to. Why take ten terminators when two will do the deed and save me a lot of points. Boys before Toys
Points 1500
Models 34
KP 9
The problems ...
1) Quite slow without the possibility of DSing.
2) Not very much long range AT
3) Can be tar pitted and then what do you do?
The Pros ...
1) The army is tough and resiliant
2) It can hold objectives if they can reach the objectives
3) a big blob units with two Termies and either Njal or Logan is going to do some damage
4) It has the capacity to take out tanks up close and CMLs at range can hurt.
So I'll begin testing this weekend. I sure would like to use some of my DA ... I'll just modify them enough to call 'em Wolves.
