Iyanden 1500 for a tournament
« on: May 15, 2005, 07:06:48 AM »
Hi this my Iyanden army. It is performing well(massacres against Space Wolfes, Tau and Biel Tan):

[HQ]
 Farseer
     Singing Spear
     Fortune
     Mind War
     Spirit Stones
(on thid tournament organizers informed me that I must purchase spirit stones in order to use 2 powers per turn)

[Troops]
10 Wraithguard

      Warlock
          CC Weapon & Shuriken Pistol
          Conceal

5 Wraithguard

      Warlock
          Singing Spear
          Destructor

      Wave Serpent
Linked Shuriken Catapults; Linked Bright Lances
          Spirit Stone

 Wraithlord
    Star Cannon

 Wraithlord
    Star Cannon

[Heavy]
 Falcon Grav-Tank
Linked Shuriken Catapults; Star Cannon; Pulse Laser
     Spirit Stone
     Holo-Field

 Falcon Grav-Tank
Shuriken Cannon Upgrade; Scatter Laser; Pulse Laser
     Spirit Stone
     Holo-Field

What do You think about it?

My two cents:

Reduce the 10 man squad to 5 and give it a wave serpent, too.

Remove mind war and fortune, and put the farseer on a falcon and give him guide instead.

Remove the scatter laser and put in a starcannon.

Give the warlocks either conceal or enhance, depending on how you want to use them. (I personally prefer enhance). I'd also give the warlocks witchblades instead of singing spears...but singing spears are ok, too...if there are enough points.

Oh...and I'm not counting the points...so you do the numbers...but with the 45 <?> or so points saved from removing fortune, mind war and spirit stones from the farseer, the suggested amendments should fit right in.
Maybe you can even give the 1st falcon a shuriken cannon, too.
Oh...and if you do put the farseer on a falcon, you could opt to remove the singing spear and just give him a close combat weapon and shuriken pistol (up to you...it just saves you some more points if you need it, IMHO). A vyper or two w/ starcannons would be nice if you can squeeze it in.

Otherwise...its kinda ok as it is...the above are just recommendations.

Ciao for now,

Farseer Iakobos

Der Tag glühend heiß Oder eiskalt die Nacht.
Bestaubt sind die Gesichter, Doch froh ist unser Sinn,
Ist unser Sinn; Es braust unser Panzer
Im Sturmwind dahin." - 1st verse, Panzerlied ;D

This is mechanized approach to the army. I really like 10 concealed wraithguard. They don't kill much, but they almost always finish the game unscathed claiming objectives. Mechanized Iyanden is more fragile and requires eaven more finesse in use, but when I buy another serpent I will definitely try this.
As for warlock's powers. Concealment is great for footsloggin wraithguard unit and when combined with fortune and toughness 5 and 3+ armour save this squad is very tough to kill. Enhance I rarely use. Destructor is the way to for a serpent squad. It decimates everything with save 4+ and worse.
