Imperial Warhound Titan (updated and final pics pg2)
« on: March 17, 2008, 10:08:33 PM »
ok well I finally finished my Warhound Titan.

Well by finished meaning mostly finished. I still have yet to come up with a name for the name plaques. I also have to finish the base and I am still pondering some free hand on the armor plating on the legs.

Any suggestions on a name?

Well here it is.

now on this one you might notice the joint on the right looks weird.  Well i couldn't get the pose I wanted so attempted to greenstuf it to hold it. But after I finished it and set the the torso on it I awoke the next morning to find it in pieces as the joint gave away. So i broke the legs off and put it back togther smoothly and havn't had a chance to post pics.

I really love this model and it was a lot of work! But well worth it. I kinda wish they would forgo the interior detail as you really can't leave the top loose and hope to have a functional model as it will just slide and pop off so I had to glue it shut. So in essence forgo the interior detail and give us a cheaper model.

I will post more pictuers soo as I get the name on there, finish the base and put on it's banner between the legs.

That looks great.

Names, names,

"No Saving Throw" comes to mind first hehehe.

Cracking open my Latin Dictionary, I have a few ideas.

praesidio -to guard, protect, defend; to command, be in command of.

praeval-ens/entis - exceptionally strong, exceptionally powerful

preti-os/us - precious, valuable; expensive; extravagant  :P

pugn-ax/acis - Pugnacious, scrappy, aggressive; quarrelsome; dogged

gladi-us/i - Sword; murder, death

jus or potestas gladii - right to try and punish a capital crime (granted by emperor to provincial governors) ((Bolded a very nifty part consideringthe 40k setting))

Looking good, Myung. Fine work, as always.

Question: did that base come with the Titan, or did you get it elsewhere?

Khemri,

thanks!

no the base did not come with the Titan. Lol for how much it costs you would think it comes with a base!  I went to Michaels (arts n craft chain in the US) and bought it. Just a oval shaped wooden base. Almost done with it, infact would have finished it tonight, if it wasn't for the fact I am Legend came out on dvd today!

Ah dvds the 2nd most expensive crack habit I have heh

technically forgeworld is just s big warehouse but at WW you can buy things and get them there and then

its not 200 its 285.

forge world are so expensive because of the sheer amount of deatail on the model (hard to tell from the pictures posted)
plus the fact thats it made entirely out of resin

have a look at these ones

nack on topic - dude that looks really good. but how come you got the lucis instead of the mars? as the mars has more decoration

I believe they also cost more because the resin moulds wear out very quickly, so they need to be replaced often. Which would be rather expensive, I imagine.

I got this one and not the Mars as it screams Imperial too me.  Imperial to me means mass produced, easy to get out, blocky stuff. Not rounded ornate objects to fight with. So they take straight plates of steel and weld them togther!

The mold thing is right. They get about 3 castings out of each mold before they have to make a new one.

Ouch, Nice paint job, it looks very cool.  But if I were you I'd have magnetized the top to allow display of the interior when not in use instead of gluing it.

How difficult was the assembly? I've been thinking of picking a Ttitan up now that I'm working full time and can actually afford it, but I'm a little scared by how complex the model looks.

to give you an idea, each toe was 9 pieces. 3 pistons 2 pieces each and each has to be custom cut the length you want depending on the pose. It was hard for me to get the pose I wanted with this model.

If you get one be very sparingly on the glue on the ball joints for the hips to the pelvis piece till you get the torso sections completely built then do a final glue.

I had  glued the bal joints so much I couldn't get them back apart and the torso looks weird at a funny angle, so i am really making a base so the toes are standing on rocks now so it tilts back up the proper way.

Warhammer World.

Battle Bunkers also stock Forgeworld stuff, I believe, and you can indeed get them from Games Days.

Cool...damn thats big! Great paint job there, good work!
Still I lay cold, my soul seeks light / my eyes are tired; my heart's last fight
Around my shell of wood and cloth / trickle sound of wound and loss.
Broken voices of tears and cry's / sorrow and love for a Nation's son's life.
Mother and Father alone in thought. / Of the bravery and pain in the battle we fought.
We move slowly we three welcomed home. / A parade of silence, hands and flags wave
Above our bodies, they gather as on, / Along this highway of heroes for two seconds of light.

WOW! Excellent work on the Titan. I don't know if I can bring myself to building one of those monsters. So many pieces and so much detail. I have 3 Armorcast Warhounds, and while those are MUCH easier to build, the newer FW ones look so much better detailwise.

I've seen people build them at the Battle Bunker in Baltimore where I play. The Green paint job reminds me of one of the same kind of titans on display there, where they gave the cockpit head a "Shark" mouth style paint job like modern jet fighters have today.

Do you plan on using it in games or is it more for display?

Battle Bunkers also stock Forgeworld stuff, I believe, and you can indeed get them from Games Days.

Yes they do....The thought has crossed mind many times! You can place an order for then at Games Days no problem too.

What SM titans are there??

All Titans are the property of The Adaptus Mechanicus now, there are no SM or IG Titans.
