Title: All bike army?
Post by: ((MiniDooMarn)) on July 12, 2007, 06:36:40 AM
I´m thinking of starting a Space Marine army and the trait I think is the coolest is Be Swift As The Wind, although quite cool it seems like the low number of models can be a problem. Can an army composed entirely of Bikes and Vehicles really be that competetive since I want to take the army to a local tournament later on.
What I want to include in the army is an Epistolary and Inquisitor Lord (FotD combined with Purgatus seems nice ;)). The tournament plays at 2000pts so I was thinking of including the mentioned characters, 2 Predators, Land Raider Crusader, some Land Speeders, Dreadnought mounted in a Pod and couple of units of bikers. Would this function good at a tournament where the powergamers thrive ???.
Any tips would be most appreciated  :)

Well, as far as I know, Inquisitor Lords can't be mounted on Bikes, which makes the tactic a lot less viable.

For real powergaming, just take 2 Librarians on bikes, both with FotD, and then "escort" your opponent units that are falling back, until they run off the table (units can't regroup if there is an enemy unit 6" or closer to them).

For an effective Biker army, I'd just go with Bike Squads as Troops and Elites, mounted HQs and Land Speeder Tornados w. Assault Cannons for Fast Attack. 2k points isn't that much, you'll have like 30-40 models depending on the build, and you don't want your precious Predators/Land Raiders stuck on their own in the rear as the rest of your army zooms up to engage the enemy and claim Invulnerable Saves.

There are quite a few threads started around here on Biker armies recently, have a good read around the boards before you try and write a list.

The plan is to stick the Inquisitor Lord and retinue in the Crusader.

I don´t want to make an überbeardy army, just one that can handle powergamer lists.

The plan was that the Predator lays down covering fire while the Crusader and everything else closes in.
