Eldrad on a bike?
« on: May 25, 2015, 09:51:38 PM »
Was just reading the Seer Council entry, and if any farseer or warlock upgrades to bike, then all must do so.

You can also choose to replace a farseer with Eldrad, who wouldnt normally ride a skyrunner - but in this case might he be allowed to?

Obviously he hasnt gotten out his ride in a few millennia, but why not...

Cheers

Nope. Sorry.  RAIntended aside,  the rule says both "Farseers" with a capital "F" can hop on their sky-cycles.  Eldrad is not a capital F Farseer.  He's a completely seperate unit that happens to have psychic powers from the same discipline and some of the same wargear as "F"arseers.

The fact that he's a farseer in fluff has no bearing on the rules, odd though it may seem.

Its not in Eldard's wargear list nor an optional upgrade on his datasheet, so no he can not pilot any thing. Just like Sheldon he has evolved beyond the ability to drive. He can be a passangers, so some friendly Harliquins or Dark Eldar might give him a lift ;)

Wyldhunt:
ELDRAD ULTHRAN HIGH FARSEER OF ULTHWÉ
Note the "F" in Farseer, might cause some confusion :)

I wish! oh how I wish! t5 eldrad zooming about would be wonderful for my army! Unfortunately he got debuffed in this codex for the most part due to not being able to redeploy your troops (the ultimate eldar trickery if you've ever used it)

Going from redeploy to scouting units is not necessarily a debuff!

Redeploy 2 wave serpents with units inside them = somewhere else in your DZ.

Scout 2 wave serpents with units inside = free 12" move anywhere you want! Go for the throat!

But agreed, gone are the days of switching your council from the left side of the board to the right.

Anyway, the Seer Council does not say that all Farseers must take skyrunners, it says "All other models must also do so."

Last Seer Council question -- yes the farseers must join the unit and cannot leave, but I'm guessing it still counts for 3 KPs when destroyed.

I didn't realize that the warlord trait 'an eye on distant events had changed'! So you get to scout instead of redeploy. I feel like it isn't as tricksy as you can't stack one side of the board with the council and a wraithknight and then move them to the other side after your opponent deploys. However I REALLY like you're idea of scouting wave serpents with units inside them. If I go first I can get a unit of d-scythe wraithguard or guardian defenders onto my opponents 12" line.  That kind of turn 1 movement on the wraithguard is nasty for obvious reasons. Getting the guardians that far can be awesome for the same obvious reasons but also has really cool synergy with the guardian battlehost so you can give your warwalkers, vypers and vaul's wrath batteries preferred enemy to all those units within 12" of your guardians. Very cool!

Eldrad still lost his 12" stealth bubble which kind of blows

I honestly forgot about the Stealth bubble, I never actually used it last edition.

The thing with his earlier redeploy rule was that if you deployed second it didnt matter, and if you deploy first and your opponent just sits in the centre of the table, etc, it really didnt matter either.

With scout, you can make it ALWAYS matter!

Agreed the Warhost synergizes really well, especially when you consider he gets that guaranteed 6" run roll as well.

Even so, I'm not strongly considering the big E-man right now =/
