I've been away from the game for almost 2 years, during which time I've been really on and off about it, never taking it seriously although that didn't stop me from doing things like getting the latest Tau codex
I'm wondering about a few thing that I hope you guys could update me on:
1) Mecha Tau or Stationary Tau? Back when I was most active Mecha Tau were the "only" way to go (at least that was the consensus here), but I read oinky's sticky and thats a stationary Tau list. Now, I'm not saying I'm biased to either (well, maybe a little more to stationary
) but its a little surprising to find a stationary Tau army doing well since all those I used to see just get butchered by their opponents. Although, admittedly there could always be variations in gaming skill and army building.
2) Piranhas, yay or nay? I was pretty excited to get a LSeq (Land Speeder equivalent
) for the Tau, although to a certain extent they are softer targets than speeders. They are a little pricey but can spawn a squad of Gun Drones, which are pretty good IMO.
3) Vespids, yay or nay? I think I know this one......"too fragile"
4) How do people use Kroot nowadays? I'm guessing they are still mostly for counterattacks and whatnot, but considering how Hounds and Oxes are now "attachments" to the main unit, has that improved their playability, and whats the common number of hounds/oxes, if any? Or have the Kroot gone unfavored?
5) Skyray, yay or nay (as in, over Broadsides and Hammerheads)? Looks good. No qualms about the limited firepower since really a single-shot gun only gets a max of 6 shots per game, having the ability to dump them all rapidly is a bonus IMO. And I'm really loving that mobile ML
6) Ethereals had an improvement since the 3rd ed rules. Has this increased their frequency of being fielded?
7) Sniper Drones, yay or nay? I personally feel they are a tad expensive points-wise, and they do eat up that valuable HS slot we have, although thankfully we can take alot of them for a single slot.
So anyway, hoping to get some awesome replies on these questions.
Thanks!
