Is it me or do the Cadien heavy bolter's look far to big and clunky to be logical weapons for a fairly mobile (compared to other guard regiments) combat unit, so this is my attempt at showing you my alternatives and how I did them.
Unfortunately my camera is out of battery so there are not as many pictures as I would have liked...
->
1st: Take half of the storm bolter from the tank sprue and cut of the barrel and the sight.
\/
2nd: Trim off the 2 lups on the rear of the bolter; the one under the butt of the gun (thats in the shadow) and the one sticking straight out the back of the gun.
\/
3rd: Glue the missle launcher muzzle to the front of the gun in the place the barrel used to be.
\/
4th: Glue a 3mm thick 2cm long plasticard rod the the front of the gun, if you dont have any plasticard rod, then a length of cirular sprue from most (non GW) model tanks will do nicely (thats what I use).
5th: The belt of bullets from the real heavy bolter can be attached to the side at this point, for the simple reason; it looks cooler. Also at this point an upside down bayonete grip can be attached to the top of the gun to look like a slide. The mortar bi-pod can be glued onto the botton of the gun as it fits snugly onto the lunp on the botton of the bolter.
The arms I used to hold the gun are just normal heavy weapon arms glued onto the sides of the back of the gun.
Heres another I did using the same method, but using the missle launcher armt to hold the gun instead.
C'n'C welcome.
