Disney Shuts Down LucasArts, Cancels Star Wars 1313 And Star Wars: First Assault

Whole studio has been shut down and the staff axed. Now just going to be a licensing franchise rather than a self-creator.

You have to love the smell of science in the morning. It smells of learning.... or perhaps a gas leak.

I loved KOTOR and X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, but those days were long past for Lucas Arts. From what I saw of 1313 it had little to do with the Star Wars other than  the odd reference.

Sorry that people lost their jobs, but it looks like Disney's doing some tidying before starting afresh. I'm still hopeful that any new direction is better than what the franchise had become: a worn-out old cash cow and a vehicle for poor sci-fi writing.

Not surprised at all.  I'm an old school gamer so I miss Lucasarts heyday.  Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max, Monkey Island...those were great games.
Everyone else is doing it so...Behold the great General's gaming blog!

I was cleaning up our spare room and found an old manual from Lucas Arts - Wings of the Luftwaffe, I really loved that game and all its addons. Wished they had something more up-to-date for our 21st century systems.  Those were the days.  :-[

RIP Lucasarts. I'll never forget the hours wasted on Jedi Knight, Sam and Max, Day of the Tentacle, or Tie Fighter. This old gamer's heart just lost another 5% off of its LVEF.
