Metal Aspect Warrior Arms Separate?
« on: April 1, 2009, 08:02:28 PM »
I'm working on converting my entire army to be based off of guardian armor for fluff reasons, and I was just wondering which of the new Aspect Warriors have separate weapon arms.  The ones I'm mainly concerned with are Fire Dragons, Scorpions and Banshees.

On a side note, does anyone know where to get possible chainswords that look at least somewhat eldar?  Buying 30 Scorpions just for their swords is a little out of my price range.

Thanks in advance.

I can confirm that Scorpions come with their right hand (chainsword hand) separate.

Getting them to fit with the Guardian body though... not sure how well you'd be able to pull that off... they don't even fit with the regular Scorpions bodies properly... and underarm gaps are a PAIN to fix =_=.

the fire dragons are one piece im afraid apart from the exarch who's pike is separate

the banshees are two piece with either the sword or pistol arm separate depending on the model, again the exarch is missing both arms, with options for either mirror swords or the executioner

Aspect wrrior armour isnt exactly drastically different from that of Guardians really. Unless we're talking about Warpspiders and maybe Swooping Hawks. Wouldnt giving all of them a similar paint job be enough?

Also, bear in mind that the Storm Guardian set does have a roughly 50/50 mix of Chainswords to swords.

Getting Scorpion arms to fit isn't hard.  I did it using the previous edition Scorpion minis.  Stuff the socket with puddy and then cut the shoulder pad from the side that the arm will fit into- the deltoid part of the arm is robust enough to cap the shoulder socket.

i got loads of banshee sword arms to make my storm guardians and they dont fit too badly, just need to get rid of the shoulder pad on the side the arm is going.  for shuriken pistols i got them from dire avenger exarchs.  however not sure if GW sells parts separately now like they used to.

as for eldar chainswords, you can always see if there are any eldar weapon sprues going on ebay.  these have 1 each of chainswords, powerswords, powerfists, fusion guns, flamers, lasguns and shuriken catapults, shuriken pistols, laspistols.  you would also need an eldar arm sprue then too though.

Actually my army is based off of the marine contigent of my fleet, and I wanted them to have an actual uniform.  That's why they all have guardian armor.

Another question, do you know where I could get large quantities of the High Elf mage horse riding legs and a bunch of the wrairthlord plastic flamers?  Without buying the entire kits of course.  I am not looking to use the old weapon sprues, as they are a little too goofy in my opinion...

@ Tethesis:  My force doesn't discriminate between genders in their squads.  And it helps that they aren't technically Banshees or guardians, but are rather specialist close assault marines.  ;D
