for 500points i always say 'numbers, numbers, numbers'
in a 500 point game with marines it is better to have the manpower as there will be less in the opposing force that can deal with your power armor
i tend to take a list similiar to the one Wuestanfux posted as it has the number as well as a little firepower

Well I have several problems with this list.
Firstly, I never give a leader a plasma pistol. It gives a 'trivial bonus', i.e., you cannot use it that often, and your leader can be wounded. Your leader needs frags!

Secondly, I don't like the configuration of the tactical troops. You configured two more or less static units with lascannons. For this, 6 men are sufficient. On the other hand, you included a Vet Sergeant w/ power fist and so the squads needs some mobility. Saying it differently, the squads are outfitted for shooting and also geared towards close combat. I suggest to drop the lascannons. Then you have two mobile units. In this way, you can also make use of the bolters in the squad (rapid fire at 12'').

Thirdly, the LS Tornado is the best LS in the game.

this list seems perfect for small games, as long as you dont let the enemy out manuever you, i suggest deloying on one flank and forcing hiim to come to you, this way you can cancel any mobility that they have over you, plus you firepower/charges will be more concentrated=more deadly

Be careful you don't fall into a trap here.  A Typhoon is not armed with a Twin-linked Missile Launcher.  It has it's own Typhoon Missile Launcher which is not as flexible.  For a 500 point list I'd recommed a Tornado with HB & AC, you'll probably find it performs better.

As for the last 33 points, how about an Iron Halo fo your Captain and frag grenades for both tactical squads?

Um...Yes it is.  Page 36 of the SMurf codex states that the Typhoon may add a multiple missle launcher, and that it is Twin linked.

I am between a rock and a hard place, because I do not know if I should give my Command Squad or Sergeants BP's & CCW's or leave as bolters. 

My goal was to have 3 squads that could move, fire, and possibly assault every turn, take out armour, and every other possible unit. 

Even though I was not Powerfist deliverin', I don't know if I should still change to the BP & CCW.

Not to totally convolute this discussion with quotes of quotes of quotes, but...
I think the point he was trying to make is that the Typhoon is not armed with a twin-linked missile launcher (a missile
launcher being able to fire both frag and krak missiles), but with a twin-linked Typhoon missile launcher (which only
fires typhoon missiles). In both cases yes, twin-linked. However the regular missile launcher IS more tactically flexible.

I would agree that you would find the HB and AC far more effective in small point games. Especially given that you will be on
a smaller table, meaning your shorter range weapons will be just as, if not more so, effective.

Why can't I just shoot them before I get there?

And I had extra points, so I also could include an aupsex for 2, but I was just filling up points.  If it is that much of a waste, fine, I'll take it out to have even more unsused points.

Looks a lot more confident then your current one. You lose mobility and harrasing power with your footman list. Also, give your commander an Iron Halo. All that crap on him will not do a whole lot but the Halo will increase his survuvability by a  lot.
