Building a Baneblade - Reloaded
« on: May 9, 2008, 01:58:28 PM »
Ok gentlemen,

I finally convinced myself that I need a Baneblade. However, I'm not going to buy one (I'm too stingy  ;D). Instead I will build my own version of the Baneblade which will be similar to the GW and the FW version. Best of both worlds is what I'm looking for.

I estimate that this project will take about four to six weeks. I'm a slow scratch builder. So, have some patience, please.

Here are some pics for starters:

Non of these parts have yet been glued. I just wanted to see if things fit together.

I have another update on the Baneblade for all you lurkers. ;)

I glued the trackwheels and skirts of one side to the baneblade in order to see what it would look like.

Unfortunately, I have to admit that I don't like it. The front wheel is too large, IMO. I guess I will have to remove it and replace it with something else.

In warhammer 40k there are only 3 sizes
Epic,
40k,
Apocalypse.

Looking good so far.

The front wheel is still on the hull. ;)

Anyway, since I'm working on the front I began to add some details.

Nice work? Close ups are nice but can you make some pictures which are a little more distance, now it is difficult to compare it to the whole model (and/or section)

Your wish is my command.

I also just removed the front wheel. I will use something else.

is it some kind of styrofoam by the way?

and i noticed no side sponsons wil they be an "add on" feature?

The 'front' wheel will go to the rear. I tested it and it looks better and gives the BB a feeling to it.

No, I use a very thick kind of plasticard. It is about 5 mm
thick. Very nice and easy to work with. The only drawback is that it can only be used for the bigger vehicles or flyers. For the details I use thin PC.

The sponsons will be there, too. I guess it will be the next logical step (plus the sidearmour that is outlined on the sides). I will go for the classical version. So there will be only one sponson on each side.
