Some of my old tyranid pictures:

97% of my nids are painted, except for some very small details on their bases.

Still have a few to paint:
1 zoat
2 warriors
various old nid squigs
1 magus
1 second edition termagant
10 slayer hunters
I bought these on ebay 2 years ago, but I've been painting Dark Eldar only these last few years.

I plan on expanding, but I've been busy expanding my Dark Eldar. I'll buy forgeworlds some day, but I'll buy new units during the summer probably, I haven't even tried out the new codex. I'm going to buy it, buy our new units and I definetely have to get myself a trygon.
Most of my army is painted, so if I buy more units I'll just paint them immediately and I'll start playing.

LoL when I saw this picture I started doubting whether you stole my nids!
It's either an amazing coicidence or you just saw my nids before.
In either case it's great to see nids with almost the same color sheme as mine!
Both our Hive fleets are closely related on the genetic side : D
The Dark Moon Kabal ,possibly the biggest DE army ever!
over 20k and awesome, what more do you need to click? (last updated the 02/03/2012)

Nothing better than killing a thousand slaves to wake up in the morning.

Lol. That's awesome. You must be my bug brotha from anotha mutha... or... erm... Norn Queen, rather. That pic of your bugs on your desk really does look similar to my paint scheme. Good job having so many of your bugs painted. I still only have about 40-50% of mine finished. And I still need to base almost all of them too. >_<

My (newly named) Hive Fleet Ereptor in all it's glory!

Still got some stuff missing from the pic though, at least couple dozen models are still crying for paint. Includin a tyrant and mawlock and a  broodlord and and... oh, man! I should get to it!
The glass is not half full. If its half full its not my glass. MY glass was entirely full! And bigger!

Well, my army has undergone a bit of an expansion, so I figured it was about time I updated my photos. I counted out approximately 6700 points total:

I'm working on a 1000 point force for a doubles tournament. My partner is playing blood angels with some termies and a terminator librarian, and I've got genestealer heavy nids (space hulk theme overall). Eventually I'll expand the list to 1850 points or so.

So far I've got a bunch of genestealers, a broodlord and a warrior painted, plus a hormagaunt test model. My picture taking is lagging my progress a bit, but I figured I'd share what I have on hand.

First off is the test hormagaunt, obviously converted. There's one big unit of these guys in the list, which will be a mix of ones converted like this, some more that are the front half of a hormagaunt mashed with the back end of a ripper and some stock assembled ones.

Next is the first unit I completed for the list, a little unit of 5 Ymgarl Genestealers. Other than the affectionately named 'squid faces' (which are greenstuffed on), they're stock space hulk stealers.

The tournament is toward the end of September, so by then I should have more pictures of the rest of the list :)

Oh and one other picture I had kicking around - a step by step of how I did my genestealers. Figure I'll toss it up here for anyone looking for inspiration.

Skin: hormagaunt purple+rotting flesh, wash leviathan purple, highlight using mixes of hormagaunt purple+rotting flesh, glaze with watered down leviathan purple.
Carapace: mordian blue, badab black wash, highlight using mixes of mordian blue+fortress grey.
Claws: graveyard earth, highlight using mixes of graveyard earth, bleached bone and skull white.

Used the Online Tyranid Painter to finalize the scheme:

Obviously - the one on the right:

May I present, Hive Fleet Hercual. I painted them with the Hercules beetle in mind, one that I found on the net who had a very nice color for the carapace. I tried to get it as close as possible. No link, sorry.

My first Carnifex, last edition.

More recent, and my second, Carnifex.

My Lictor. Best paint job in my opinion.

Next, my small Warrior Brood.

Now for my infantry! (Only two broods. One of Devourgants, and one of Hormies) [Single-model shots]

Devourgant

Hormagaunt

Sorry for the lighting and quality. Done with a web-cam  :-[

[Edit] I do plan on adding to this. I have quite a few additions to my army in the mail. Two Zaons and a bunch of infantry ^^

Here is my test model for my paint theme, please tell me what you think.  I feel that it came out pretty good but now looking at the pictures it appears that I might need to thin my paint a bit more, this is the first time I have used the foundation paints.

@ Avatar of the Eldar: Loving hive fleet Kali-Ma! Did you take that from Indiana Jones and the Templee of Skulls? Is that a Crusaders Mycetic Spore? I've always wanted one of them! How did you make the Tervigon, it's AMAZING?!?
@ Testors: Lovin the paint scheme! The extra-serpentine hormagaunt is soo cool! Great job on the SH Genestealers!
@ everybody else: Great work everyone! I've seen some great paint jobs and conversions! Keep up the good work!!!

My Hive Fleet So Far
« Reply #116 on: January 20, 2011, 02:35:36 PM »
This is my army thus far. I have painted all of this up within 2 weeks or so using a scheme that I may have robbed from some unknown source  ;)
I still have a Malwoc, Carnifex, Doom, FW Hive Tyrant left to paint. Also as far as army composition is concerned I may pick up a Venomthrope or 2 cause I like the model. Let me know what you think about my little bugs as its my first time painting in a LONG time. What can I improve upon? If you need better pictures just ask, I am always seeking constructive criticism.

8 Genestealers

12 termagaunts w/Fleshborers

Trygon Prime

3 Zoanthropes

3 Hive Guard

3 Warriors w/ Dual Boneswords and Devourers

Fully magnitized Hive Tyrant

Converted Doom

Damn!  2 weeks to paint all that!?  It's taking me forever to put paint on 1 unit of 22 Hormagaunts!  I'm detailed oriented and have a 10 month old boy, so time is actually quite thin.  They look great and I can't wait to see the Doom painted to get a better look at it.

I have to say that your boneswords look really good on the Warriors and I just might steal the idea if I don't buy the resin ones made by...............uh, can't remember but I have the link bookmarked.  Trust me, its the Cabernet Sauvignon that I have been drinking.

I also love the Trygon ST on the Hive Tyrant, looks really good and proportional instead of the larger Carnifex ones.  I'm going to steal that idea too!  Sorry, but it looks that good.

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery my friend. I shouldnt say it was 2 week for it all. I had the trygon, stealers, and gaunts done a long time ago, the hive tyrant, hive guard, zoans, and warriors were all done in about 2 weeks time.

Mac, your nid army has inspired me. That looks fantastic. Keep it up and definitely update us when you get more painted! Can't wait to see that DoM fully painted. The GS on it looks great!
