60% is one third. LotR is one of three systems. So you would expect one third of the people play the game...

Sorry, but 60% isn't 1/3.
He's saying 1/3 of the people play it, not that 60% is in fact 1/3 (which it obviously isn't).
Sorry, it was a typo, I meant to say 60% is two thirds...
As to LOTR, I can't get any of my friends to play it cause the system is "gay" (his words, I actually like the system). If I could convince him/them to play it, I'd definately play.
Ask him why the system is 'gay'. It'd be interesting to get an answer.
Are we as offensive as we might be?

I already know why. He says it's too hard to kill stuff (all the sixes you need and everything) and he seems to think along the lines of if they don't die in droves, it isn't any fun.

Let's look at the odds of actually killing something.  Let's take two LotR models with equal fight scores, and strength/toughness such that they need 6s to wound:
Player 1 has a 1/2 chance of winning the fight, and a 1/6 of killing player 2 = 1/12 chances of inflicting a casualty.

Now let's take a Space Marine (player 2) against a Dark Eldar Warrior (player 1):
Player 1 has a 1/2 chace of hitting player 2, a 1/3 chance of wounding player 2, and player 2 has a 1/3 chance of failing a save = 1/18 chances of inflicting a casualty

(Two Space Marines have a 1/12 chance of killing the other).

So really LotR and 40k are more or less on par in terms of the number of models killed.  Saves and wounds are simply rolled into the same roll with a higher number needed.  The odds of killing something remain more or less the same.

Dam you LOTR bashers! How many of you have played the game? Most of you just winge because some people like the game and you dont. How many threads do you see bagging all the specialist games? do more than 1/3 of people play Mordheim or Necrumunda?

Stop wingeing about a game that is enjoyable, dont ruin the experience for people just because you want something to b**** about.
