Anime fans unite!
« on: March 1, 2002, 10:48:01 AM »
Not sure if this topic has been up before, so here goes.

I am an anime fan since I can remember.  I grew up with Japenese cartoon, anime since I was in Kindergarten.

Gundam, Macross, Southern Cross, Maginzer, Getterrobo and tons of other mecha based shows are my favorites.

Others like Orange road( I know it is sad, but in middle school I had a crush on Madoka((sp?))), Ranma 1/2, and other teen-themed ones are cool too.

So, what is your favorite Anime?

Mine is the whole Gundam series, well up till F90 anyway... Wing just doesn't make any sense to me...

Gundam is ok, but I still like NGE the best. Go Evangelion!  ;D

hehe.. guess I'm old school.  To me Gundam doesn't end with just the show and toys.  It's the side stories, MS variations and some of the completely amazing techniques the japanese modellers can do with the gundam theme...

One of the craziest thing I've seen is a 1:20 bust for Superior Gundam from gundam sentinel... (The S Gundam is over 20meters tall, so the model would be about 1 meter, 3 feet tall) Although it only has the head, upper torso, right arm and the backpack unit, it's huge and so detailed...

Zeta Gundam.  Best Gundam series ever made.  (Excepting Char's new alias...)

I'll confess that KOR ranks high on my list as well.  Which is one of the various reasons that I pray fervently that Animeigo will start releasing it on DVD.

I used to enjoy Maison Ikkoku as well, but that was before the subtitling project....  *shudder*  There's just something about watching the last 45 eps or so 10 times each, broken up into bits while you work on the timing.

Favorite series outright?  Probably Gundam.

I am actually NOT an anime, but my girlfriend is a HUGE anime and manga nut and has actually managed to get me hooked on Kenshin.  That series is REALLY cool.

I tried to watch TriGun since everyone seems to think it is so cool, but I couldn't get past the first few episodes...

Seriously, though, if anyone here has seen Kenshin, GO SEE IT!  It is truly great.

Yeah, that's what I meant with "Urotsukidoji". Seems like I'm a lucky guy, I just found the complete DVD collection for only 200 bucks! ;D ;D ;D

Yep, I love anime.

It's just so damned hard to watch the stuff I wanna in England.

I have all of Gundam Wing on video, X, Perfect blue, Streetfighter 2, Akira of course.

I remember watching anime for the first time two years ago. I'd always wanted to see it but never had the opportunity. sci-fi channel put RG Veda on and it was damned good. Simple as it is, it's probably my favourite anime.

How about some anime style Eldar pics for the art gallery?

I presume everyone knows about www.sputnik7.com You can watch anime films and series across the internet. It's so cool. They have all of Macross 2, Violence Jack, Angel Cop (which I highly recommend) and loads of other good ones and it's all free!

>>>>>Up here in Canada there isn't a whole lot of Anime. I have seen all 50 episodes of the gundam series that was aired up here - with peacecraft familly, Wing Zer0, and Epyion.  Good stuff.  I've started to watch a bit of DBZ, its ok, but i still prefer the mechs.  I did seen soem of macross back when i was little, and a whole bunch of other ones - all mech and robot ones.  I grew up with Transformers, so anime shows with a story line appeal to me!   ;D
