That is just simply amazing. I love the detail and accuarcy(sp?) of the design of the angel looking thing.

I agree with Pikachu, not the place for that.  Looks cheesey  ;D. Also how are the pilots supposed to see through all that paint?   :o
Gil-galad was an Elven-king.
Of him the harpers sadly sing:
the last whose realm was fair and free
between the mountians and the sea.

His sword was long, his lance was keen,
his shining helm afar was seen ;
the countless stars of heaven's field
were mirrored in his silver shield.

But long ago he rode away,
and where he dwelleth none can say;
for into darkness fell his star
in Mordor where shadows are.

a very nice idea.

such a shame the sword is too short and fat and the anatomy of the figure is up the shoot.

but otherwise a brilliant idea.

someone post me a phoenix so I can show you all how its should REALLY be painted ;)

Awesome! It seems that there's a trend in painting Eldar Pheonixes in muralistic themes these days. Here's mine TMB.

I went to the NVStudio website to get a better look at the model and, if I'm allowed a critique, I would say that I was dissapointed that the painter didn't add more detail to the model than the goddess image.

None of the spirit stones are detailed, nor are the technical bits or even the jet intakes. You also have to figure that the pilot figures were completely ignored since the canopies are painted over. I'd also be interested to see how the underside of the model was painted as well. Not to steal this painter's thunder, it is a good concept, but I think with some more effort it could be a Golden Daemon contender.

I am much more impressed with yours, Eldanesh, than with the studio one.  I think even I, with my total lack of shading ability, could paint something comprable to the studio angel because it pretty much ignores the vehicle.  It's just a painting on a Phoenix instead of a canvas.  On yours, however, the Phoenix is an integral part of the art, and it is much more stunning for that.

VICTORIX: Thanks for the props. IMHO my Pheonix is technique-wise a better model, but as far as concept I basically aped the design on the Forgeworld site. While the concept of the goddess Pheonix is kick-ass, it looks incomplete to me without the detail work and kind of reminds me of a dish or a jar that has a nice picture painted on it. It has the potential to be an awesome model with some more effort and patience though.

just my 2 cents,..

Agreed the mural must complement the canvas.  Eldanesh's accomplished this well.  The goddess just paints over the Pheonix.   It seems a difficult task to pull off, to make the goddess look like an intagral part of the Pheonix.
If the artist could pull this off the Golden Deamon would be that much closer.  ;)

   Without agreeing to anything I *do* have two phoenix bombers floating around in a shockingly unpainted state....
   I've spent the last 8 months or so trying to work out a colour scheme for them and also the rest of my beil-tan vehicles. Note, I don't do thorns and am into reversing the colour scheme on bigger/tougher versions (ie: my wraithguards heads are green with the bodies white, the wraithlord has a white head with a green body. Farseers wear white robes with green helmets whilst warlocks wear green robes with white helmets etc..)

well, it is a really awesome paint job, but i think the face is kinda dumb looking, but i odnt really like the way most faces look, so that might just be me.  id say Eldanesh's is better, but seems most people do too.  other than that, the wings look really nice, but i dont really like it over all, or the concept... seems like the angle would be on the bottem for the enimy to see and incourage the fellow eldar, wouldnt it?

The angel looks Amazing, but it bothers me that all the details were just painted over, like the ockpit and spirt stones.
