My buds and I laugh at ourselves all the time about our "geekiness".
We are all well-adjusted, moderately to very successful, married-with-one-daughter (all...), nice car drivin', good job havin', not ABOUT to be screwed-with, type-of-guys, not recognizable as geeks at all. In fact, I would wager that, if you placed us in a police line-up, and said "pick out the geeks", NO-ONE would pick us at all.......unless you were familiar with Warhammer 40K. The ONLY folks that might consider us to be geeks are our wives, all of which begin that aggravating eye-roll-thing at the merest MENTION of the game.
Me and the guys just laughed it off, until we attended the "WARFAIR" week-end tournement in Atlanta, and saw the type of geeks that were there.....

Apparently, there are "geeks", and then there are "Das Uber-geeks"...

Um, not all girls would preffer shopping to killing! I actually play a game called Dagorhir which is a fighting/combat game.....
Yes, I do like shopping....but when I shop I go to places like Hot Topic and my local gaming stores.....needless to say, most of my female friends don't like shopping with me!

Of course, I AM getting a bunch of them started in playing 40k.....right now I've got 1 for sure, and 2 others I'm working on.....I'm planning on getting us all dressed up some night and getting pics to enter for the coolness contest!

It's scary the kind of geeks you meet at tournaments and clubs. But you can also meet a lot of very cool people.....like me

I have actualyl been told that I am a "Cool Geek" and my hall mate at university used those exact words. Kinda good and bad at the same time.

Cool Geeks are the best kind! They're not so cool they're stuck on themselves, and they'r not so geeky they're annoying!

As for dressing up as elves....I've actually got a really good set of elf ears....but I'll probably be a wych....since I play dark eldar!

Well, i've only seen one girl on this message board (the 1 above my name) so ergo, not many girls play 40k coz it doesnt appeal to them! and males (no offence to ANYONE intended) tend to be more childish so play and fantasize about being strong people who are the big boss people etc etc to boost their ego, and make themselves feel better about themselves, my head hurts now are you all happy know!
