my ideas....
Solitaire- the fastest model in the game, w no dodge save??? dodge saves ppl!!
I also like the idea of only being hit by the template on a 4+
Jump out of combat is a must. I also think the harles should be able to jump off the transport. it is open, and they DO have flip belts.
I think the flamer and ordinace weakness should stay. everyone needs a weakness. and not having an ar sv in cc has never been a prob for me. no one lived to do anything.
Harle lord should be 0-1
i stopped arrogant necron players w a solitaire. he said his "God" could be hurt (the nightbringer). My solitaire charged, and oh no, Ld test!!!(haha) 9 attacks hit, 8 wounded, he was dead before it ever started.
And i have read in the codex where ppl say you cant use the kiss and the blades, and have found no proof to this statement. I have seen the note above the wargear. it does mention the kiss, but it only mentions another weapon. it does not mention the powerblades, it says powerweapon. these are two different pieces of equipment, as stated in the armory list.
Eldar ~6000pts
Space Wolves- Black Claw Company, 6,000pts
Saim Hann- ~2000pts and slowly converting over my vanilla Eldar army.

for people be-atching about the lack of a non-cover save I have this to say:

Harlequins are dancers right? when you dance you want light things that you can flex, jump and dance in right? You cannot flip, flex or jump in a suit of armour. They are wearing costumes, fabric costumes thus any bullet will go straight through them.

Volo you must play versus idiots.  The nightbringer could have just chosen to not fight you as the solitaire doesn't have strength or toughness of 4 or more.
As for the dance in armor... it's not that bad really, no really prancing around in 80pds of chainmail wasn't so bad, tiring but not so bad.  I don't see why some simple armor would slow them especially while wearing the flip belt.  Heck some suits of platemail were designed so that the wearer could do summersaults in them.  I could go on and on and eventually end up in the rare space hulk "dance" rules found in an obscure Dragon magazine where space marines had special dances to stomp genestealers into the floor but that's silly.  We're not asking for power armored harlequins.  But a even a 6+ save would help out.
As for allways wiping out your oponent someone hasn't played against orks, space wolves, or dark eldar very much.  Nothing like their crushing numbers or special rules to make all your harlequin ablities stop working.  Space wolves and black templars can allways hit on 3+, space wolves get a counter charge and lots of invisible wargear, orks... um 20 orks will kill a lone solitaire hands down...  the harle might kill 12 or so but the orks will kill him.  Dark eldar make a mockery of harlequins with the new wyches, dark eldar lords, and disentigrators.  Also many new marine armies ignore leadership modifiers in close combat so the mask of fear is worthless.  Not to mention trying to run down space marines is suicide.

Wow... Another who hasn't read the text out right. Check out CJ 50. It is officially clarified there. You can't now, nor have you ever been able to, combine the two.

Sorry for dragging up this old topic but I thought it would be a waste to start a new one as this one has so many good ideas.

I was thinking about the solitaire and how he would anime style cut through a unit. I thought he should have acrobatic like a banshee, but in the new assault rules it's kinda useless because they don't have to take from btb first, and sense he can't join a unit by flipping around he dosen't really expand his kill zone much.

I thought how about allowing the harleqin player to allocate wounds delt by the solitaire to anything within his kill zone and then for each wound he can move into btb with a new model 2" from him. example: Solitaire charges, scores like 3 wounds he is in btb with 3 marines out of a squad of 9 he allocates one wound to a guy next to him then jumps over him allocates the next to the sergent then jumps him and allocates to the P-fist trooper. then armor saves (if any) are rolled.

I think this would be cool because then the solitaire would jump, and flip around the unit, picking off the choice foes much like Kenshin (if anyone has seen it). It could also leave him surounded if he gets to bold, because saves are rolled after he's done moving. Much like him running through a unit slashing and then the unit falls apart behind him.

It is simpler than it seems. I like the idea of giving Harles the Caladius flip out of combat rule, but wouldn't it make solitaires sickening with their blitz?

Meh, what do you guys think?

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this option before but what about replacing the Blitz attack of Solitaires with sustained assault as Swooping Hawk exarch?

Worth it just for teh look on your oponents face :o

it would need tweeking obviously

um, if a solitare killed even 9 orks, they would break and die, besides you NEVER run a solitare without a domino field, and he might take 2 wounds out of the 11 remaining orks.  heck, with a kiss, i would charge him into a spacemarine command squad because even if he dose die, he probably paid for himself.

hey, what about some warp spider style jump thing for the basic troops?

Sustained assault and WS9 were not meant to be mixed with 6 power weapon attacks.

I'd like to apologize to everyone for not doing anything with this yet -- The moment I said I would my life became terribly hectic and busy. I swear I will get this into an email -- or at least organise someone else to do it.

:D i think that the spider warp pack on normal harle troups is a good idea. it will get them into battle faster plus they are suposed to be masters of the web neway. also i dont think they should have to make the test on the second jump like spiders or maybe an easier one.

I think that the Solitare needs to be tougher so that it can't be vaporized by "big guns."  It seems that that is its major weakness.  Once it gets into close combat, though, it will rip though almost anything, especially with a Kiss and a D-field.  Also I think Harlequins need a regular armor save as well - for when the cover save is negated... perhaps a regular Eldar 5+?

What you are proposing is, if I am getting this right, a T6 Solitaire?
That is just soooo overpowered! Then the cost could double, triple possibly...

Maybe just some kind of item that makes it so he can't be insta-killed like the new Chaos Mark for deamons or whatever it is. Ya know like a disruption field or soemthing?

I think maybe having an Harlie squad equiped with the Harlie jump generators would be a good idea maybe with some of the same powers as Warp spiders? It could be an elites choice. Good idea!
