Exodites counts as
« on: January 28, 2009, 08:56:34 AM »
I have been thinking about doing the whole exodites counts as, using the eldar codex.
Here are some of my ideas, please feel free to critic at your leisure.

HQ

Prince= autarch
Guide= farseer
Warguide= warlock
Dragon= Avatar

Troops

Exodite warriors= guardians
Dragon riders (smaller than the avatar dragon)= jet bikes
rangers= rangers
Exodite high patrol= dire avengers

Ellites

War dancers= banshees
vengeful spirits= wraithguard
Fire spears= fire dragons
Harlequins= harliquins

Fast attack

dragon kin= vipers
Princes guard= shining spears
hawkers= swooping hawks

Heavy support

tree spirit= wraithlord
stegadon??= falcon

If anyone has any comments or modelling ideas they would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
FA

Leave out the Wood Elf references. The Exodites are savage nobles, not Woodelves. Never were, no need to make them into it.

Don't use them. The Exodites in their original list didn't have them, and you can do without them, so just leave them for the Craftworlders.

Fair enough.
As regards the fire spears, I put these in for fear of a lack of anti-tank. Do you think this is viable??

Vypers with brightlances and falcons with the same usually does the trick, guardians with platforms fill in the rest.

I didn't really want to take falcons as they are craftworldy. Maybe getting a bit caught up and overcomplicating things though.

They are. But then again, if you are worried about your anti-armour capabilities you seem to be making a gaming-army, which is not that an Exodite-project should be about at this stage. It should be about the wonderous conversions, the fluff and the painting. Gaming has to be secondary whenever you "resurrect" such an old list.

That is so true!!
Thank you. I cannot believe I was getting caught up in practicalities when there are so much more important things to consider, and enjoy.
I only have the eldar codex's so have very little info about exodite worlds. Do you know of any good sources of fluff at all?

We do have some sources in the stickies, but really, apart from older material (like 2nd ed Codex) then there is only fanfiction, and often very slanted. A LOT of people have tried to make Exodited "Woodelves in space" which is unjust.

Hmmm. Will have a look through the stickies at the info there. I see what you mean, they are not wood elves, will do my best to stick to the purity of the exodite worlds.

Your forgetting Pteradon riders instead of hawkers.

Interesting.

After reading the fluff(thanks Rasmus) I get the impression that Exodites are eldar meets dinosaurs. Is that about right??

They are essentially that; in chosen exile, on savage worlds, trying to do the best they can with what they can find. This includes the iconic dinosaurs, but I have seen tiger-mounted Exodites as well, and mist-riding ghostly figures. It all has to do with where they find the best "partners" one has to assume.

I guess you could even use dryads as wraithguard equivalents, seeing as hopw they have a more natural version of an infinity circuit. Maybe wraithbone "trees", so just paint fantasy dryads in a bone scheme.

As the Exodites do not have Infinity-circuits (only the Core-structure of the planet) and don't build Wraith-things, it does not appear to fit in all too well.

So if There were large dinosaurs, they could in theory use the wraithguard rules?

The dinosaurs in the older lists were strictly ridden, no roaming dinos here. You either used them for personal transport (much like avalry in any other army, converted Cold Ones were great) or a big hunkin' thing with cannons on a howdah, and with a bite that could crush a tank.

So they could be ridden? I am just trying to establish how to make them, whilst sticking to Eldar rules to save confusion for people I play.

They will make great jetbikes, vypers and falcons. Three sizes of dinosaurs, thee sizes of guns.
