I've just finished going through this thread and there is some stunning stuff in here.

Did you ever finish those hills? Given how nicely done your bases are, it be interesting to see what you do with scratchbuilt terrain.

Thanks Nutty, the idea is solid as far as creating the hills go, the problem I ran into was the physical size and shape for the hills as I wanted to be able to put models on top of it in a tiered sort of manner. It's sort of OK if your army is still on 25mm bases, but if you start catering for 32mm it gets real big, real quick. I instead use it to create features for terrain, like this, which helps to give you more LOS blocking.

I think this idea suites where GW is taking things better.

A nice tiered hill is a wargaming staple, but they always look a bit artificial. Just having a single tier big enough to put another terrain piece on can be helpful to; it breaks up LoS across the table.

Still working away my imperial's :)

I couldn't find any toy animal skeletons, so I went with a broken pillar

I think I need to weather the pillar more though.

It's hard to see in the pic but the pillar looks good to me. The colors on the models are perfect too.

The pillar is a nice touch, how are you going to weather it?

Love how the craters came out on the base of the Knight. And you know what I also love, is that Knight itself! I can only see the legs, but I can tell that it looks magnificent  :).

basically dry brushing with Terminatus stone to fade down the colours.

Struggling to get the time to finish it, and I'm not sure what I want to do with the plasma glow, I don't think the typical blue glow would work too well.

That's a mean looking knight!

As for the plasma; maybe you can do it in green or teal to help the glow stand out from the blue of the armor.

Looking pretty spiffy already, Mage ;D.

Are you playing with any of the new successor chapter rules?

If so, how are you finding them?

Loving the knight and the dread. I have a special place in my heart for walkers and these two are definitely tickling my fancy.  ;)

Do you have any thoughts of painting in battle damage/rust/weathering or are you hoping to keep them clean?

Not as yet, the group is collecting the conquest magazines, with the idea to have a few games once we have enough kit.

The knights I wanted for apoc, but it hasn't taken off locally :(, but I'll still find a way to field them in 40k.

Mostly keeping these guys clean. I want to play around with some damage effects on the death guard side. I'm still trying to find the right basing plan for them, nothing's gripping me for them yet. I might keep the same cracked earth feel like the imperials, but maybe add the odd spot of pooled sludge instead of rocks.

Great job, Mage, I think it came out pretty well ;D.

I'm not much of a death guard fan, but I do approve of the grittiness you've achieved.

Looking forward to seeing more of Nurgle's favored disciples.

Looking great Mage. I especially like the combi-bolter. Great job with the oily stains on the panels. Did you just use agrax earthshade or something else to achieve that effect?

Nice one. Looks good and gooey. Colors are spot on for DG.

It's watered down Agrax :)
