Bluu in da Phaes (updated 18 July 2009)
« on: June 8, 2009, 02:28:34 PM »
I know I spell Knob incorrectly, its part of the fun.

Hey guys, I play a number of armies and here is where I am taking my latest Ork list (full convertion theme with lots of AOBR)

I got a fair bit built/designed and loads of older stuff to use as proxies until the new stuff gets converted; but I finally got some primer done on some of the stuff converted and I wanted to know if I am going in a decent direction with them...

I would add battle damaged and patched work to the lower hull on the front and the size (the non gw parts). At the moment they look too clean, but other than this, this trukk is truly awesome!

Hey! Isn't that the Clampett's truck from the Beverly Hillbillies TV show?? I'm sure many of you are too young to know what I'm talking about....

Great looking conversion!

I agree, though it could work with just a rugged/rusty paintjob.

Thanks guys, the comments are appreciated.. the front end is from a 33 Ford. I don't think that I will give it any Battle Damage as the paint should suffice, and this Trukk is Rock 'Ard so it wouldn't get hurt much anyway.

Any ideas for the second Trukk or my Warboss on Bike ?

Cheers

So, wait... Those bikes are what, hoverbikes? Snowmobiles? Waterskis? Whatever they are, they rock.

If you want Trukk ideas, why not make a trukk that's like one of those, scaled up? Y'know, a Mek saw one of the bikes and thought... "I fink i'd like wonna dem fings, 'cept bigga 'n blastia!"
I do not think there is any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success.

Thanks for your comments.

The bikes were Deffkopta's, now there Def-Bikes... one Ski and one Prop (and in a weird Ork way they should work well enough on the Battlefield ~~ well actually they are bike size and the unit works very well)... I sorta like your idea for the Trukk, so lets run with it.

How about a trukk with 2 ski's in the front for steering, then have the rear end done up either a Half Track style (snow Mobileish), or maybe go the whole Hover thing and do a set of props or turbines ?... idea's, drawings, anything to help out (or tell me I am whacked and we go back to the drawing board).

Here's the wiki article if you want some other examples: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerosan

I love the trukk! Keep up the good work.  :D

that truck is just orksome! i love it... where did you get the parts for the front end?

as for a second one... hmm...

i like the idea of a british style rubbish truck... the ones with the enclosed rubbish compartment and rubbish crusher... like this rather orky one:

of course, that might not work so much as an open topped transport!

something like this might work much better... plus - lots of wheels are cool... and must make it go faster right?

Thanks guys, the comments are appreciated.. the front end is from a 33 Ford.

Like I said, the front end is from a modle car kit "33 Ford"

O!nk, I like the bottom Idea, with a bit of the Snow jobber posted by 'Steammotion'

I'll see what I can pull together.

PS.. The Garbage trukk idea is more Battlewagon if you ask me (closed in)..

Cheers

The idea of snow vehicles for an ork army really rocks.

Surfing the net you can find amazing designs for tracked vehicles that you could use as inspiration for your trucks and bikes. Here I give you an example.

I hope it helps.

EDIT: By the way, you can also find a lot of good inspiration in the old GorkaMorka websites.

My pleasure...

Love the tracked bike up top...

I had never seen something like that before, but immediately I thought that it could be very inspiring for any 40k bike.

Imagine this front end...

With the arse end done up like Oink's truck idea

Now that would be a good Ork Trukk.... I think... and better than the hover idea.... prabably more do-able conversion wise as well.

And then the Warboss goes straight onto something like this

Only more Orky...

Yup, thats were I think that I am going... now to try and find some Tracks... Tread heads help me out please (or somethin on the shelf is getting chopped up for parts... Wait, I have an extra Rhino or two... those could lend plenty of parts, and the tracks)....

Cheers

hmm... rhino panels over the ork trukk chassis could be used to give a good looking rear section...

for the front you are going to want to create something that looks similar to the techmarine thunderfire cannon... thingy... magigy...

if you have a chimera that might work better for the whole affair...

I'm sure that with all these ideas, and moc's good work (at least for what I've seen) this army will lead to something completely amazing.

For the tracks you should take a look at you local hobby/model store, above all some of those that sell tank models for World War. One I visited in my city had spare tracks with all the necessary for making the tracks with the shape you wanted. Also with you good green stuff work and a bit of plasticard, sure you will get what you want.

Good luck, mate.

I am going to try and stick to mostly GW parts for all of this army.... and the Rhino got completely dis-assembled today with very few issues, I also got the truck and all those 33 Ford modle parts as well, so the "Trukk" will begin fabrication next week.

The Warboss Bike will happen later as I am still gathering parts... So far I have another Defkopta, wheels, some Track, and some SM bike parts as well as several AOBR Boss's to work with... etc etc... but I am actually considering adding some Vyper Parts as well to "high-tech" it a bit more... something along the lines of the SM High-Tech bike I did earlier if I can figure it out and pull it off.

Cheers... and watch for updates on the Trukk next week.

I know I was supposed to building a trukk (and I am)... but my tiny Ork Brain got sidetrakked and I finished up the Squad of slugga's to go into the first trukk.

Not a load of work, as 11 of them are striped down old Goeff Ork's dat only needed der gun barrels drilled out, and some cleaning... Da Knob on da udder hand took a few minutes extra... tell me whats you all tink of dees guys, and I tink dis is da direction me Knobs in units are going to be going, as I like em, and I got enough crap to do the 3 more I needs (simular at least ~ no more Goeff Orks, 1 squad of dem is enough).

Trukk got its chasis chopped and front half flipped over to allow for higher track system, Trak rollers have started their assembly, and the Engine is being put together and transmission modidfied to fit into new chasis... the Glue is drying on this stuff so tomorrow sees more work (and I'll try and post pics).

Cheers.
