Very nice looking army... This makes me want to collect + paint my armies before fielding them..sadly i get too anxious to play hehe,

Maybe with my next army i'll do something along the lines of what you have done and are doing.  Very nice, =)
another day, just breathe.

Looking for a new army project...

I see you have about 4 armies? Then it's really hard to spend time on everything to paint it nicely and finish an army. But yeah, a lot of people can buy faster than they paint  ;)

Last weeks I've been busy with the BattleForce models. Gluing the tacticals, assaults, scouts and rhino. Also I played my first real battle (1250p) and won gloriously. I played gunline against CSM and my list worked very well.

Last week I discovered magnets! So I wanna show you what I've done with these little helpers.

I got a predator lascannon from my LGS and used this to make my second rhino into a razorback (and back again).

Tomorrow I'll receive a Vindicator and a Land Raider. I'm gonna use the magnets on the LR to be able to switch guns in my lists. Do you have any suggestions on how to do this?

Cheers,
Aart

As you already heard, your army is really beautiful and the army shot is always great to see. Also good to hear it worked out game wise ;D

The metal on the melta looks great, how did you do that I'd love to reproduce it.

Thanks Algavinn! I didn't do anything special if I remember correctly  :-\
After the black prime I painted Boltgun Metal and after that Black wash (from the new citadel wash line). I use if for all my SM metals 'cause I really like the results.

Hope it works for you too!
(please show me when you've tried)

Finished painting my first Assault Marines. I really like the models and plan on using them a lot.

Here they are:

I have the feeling I could improve my basing. I like the moon landscape look but it's not good yet to my feeling. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Didn't do too much painting lately due to a major exam (which I past :) ). Plus I was too lazy to post pics of my progress. But here are some updates!

I assembled my first Land Raider which was a lot of work. Also started on the basecoats for blue and metal:

My vindicator is almost finished. Experimented with the battle damage effect for the first time. Please tell me what you think of the painting!

A nice shady pic of a Space Marine with flame thrower:

I decided to extend my basing techniques, so I bought some rocks and used some more layers drybrushing the rock and moon sand.

Also some progress on my captain:

I do like how your weathering and damage came out.  What was your method?  (My vindicator is actually the next thing I'll be painting).

Well, first I painted the vindi mordian blue (foundation paint), then applied lots of boltgun metal on edges and corners. After that I did the whole model with ultra blue leaving places 'damaged' with the metal color. After that I did highlights and shades with devlan mud. The strange thing is that you put the battle damage at the same places where you'd normally do highlights.

Also, I made some actual damage to the tank & dozer blade by cutting into it with my knife and making holes with a hot needle :)

Good luck with your vindicator Algavinn.

Nice paint!  I especially like the pose with the Combat Blade in front of the face.  ;)

Holiday! Time to paint!

These days I've been busy assembling and basecoating a droppod. Wow, this model takes a lot of time! Putting the thing together took me a whole afternoon. Basecoating the blue with mordian blue, doing the white parts with codex grey and 2 layers of skull white, all the boltgun metal parts... And I haven't started on the interior yet. But I really like the model. And I like painting :)

I finished 3 Assault Marines! Put a lot of time in them and I think it was worth it. Now I have a squad of 5 painted to accompany my captain with jump pack. In my last game this unit worked really good for me against the Space Orkz. Here they are:

Decided to make some pictures of my full army. Some things are not finished yet but this gives you an idea of where my army is going.

What's not on the picture:
-5 Vanguard Veterans
-2 scouts
-2 termies
-Chaplain w/jump pack

These have to be assembled and painted.

Here's the painted ultramarines army:
