Autumn Painting Challenge [Month 3/3]
« on: November 1, 2009, 12:04:14 PM »
Welcome to the Autumn Painting Challenge! We are now into the 4th (  :o ) year of these, first under Loydb, Khemri, Serious Callers Only, Ffarquhar, Khemri again and now me. The goal of this challenge is to get some of that unpainted lead or plastic that most of us have laying around table-ready. At the start of each month, participants pledge to have a squad painted by the closing date.

I will update this post with a list of people who wish to vow.

So how does this work?

1. Vows will be frozen 10 days after the start of the challenge. There is no changing of *any* vow after day 10. Say what you'll paint, then paint what you say. If you don't already own the models you want to paint, I suggest not making the vow until you do.  Vows are still accepted after the 10th, but they can not be changed afterwards.

2. This is more of a request than a rule. *Please* post work in progress pics if you possibly can. One of the best things about the thread is watching stuff come together.  It's perfectly fine if you don't post any photos, however.

3. I need to know unit sizes when you post your vows.

FAQ

Q: Do I have to do Games Workshop figs?
A: No. Feel free to do vows based on any game system.

Q: I need to change my vow!
A: You have until Day 10 of the month.

Q: What if I don't have a camera?
A: We operate on the honour system. If you say you did it, we believe you. There are no prizes, so you only get the satisfaction of lying on the internet if you choose to do so.

Q: Will you do one of these every month?
A: That's the goal. Assuming the board manages to stay up.

Q: Hey, what if we finish our vow but decide to paint more?
A: Paint away! If you mean, can you get a head start on next month, I guess so. But it's kind of cheesy to make a vow with a 75% painted unit at the start of the month...

Q: But wait, isn't it summer?
A: Yes, yes it is. However, we must respect our crazed brothers in the northern hemisphere. They started this, after all.

im looking at a stupid busy work month, holiday shopping sucks and working retail this time of year makes you want to burn everything you own and move out in the woods and live the life of a hermit.  but who would deliver me pizza then?

i vow
1 space marine captain.
and thats it, like i said im going into a busy time so gotta keep it simple.

ok ill add my tippmann A5 paintball marker as well.

Vows updated. I've been away from home so not a huge vow from me this month, just some Tankbustas with bombsquigs, and a few grots that need painting.

Vows updated and locked. You may still make vows, you just can't change them after the 10th of the month.

I'm back home as of yesterday afternoon, so will be able to get started on my vow today hopefully.

I'm going to have a record a big bad FAIL. I've been completely distracted by other projects this month and tbh I'm getting to saturation point with my Orks - been painting the green guys for a year now and need a change! On the other hand the travel 40K project is coming along well, and I'm working on a Minbari fleet for A Call To Arms too. Also planning an escalation league for the new year which may involve something completely different...  :)

I've managed it but as it was a comp entry it's now sat in my LGW until Saturday when judging happens

Will post pics as soon as I get it back

Well, it seems like November was the Month Of Fail for our painting. Congratulations if you managed to actually finish! Next month's challenge will be up in a few minutes.

Edit: Now is the Winter of our Discontent!  :D
