Title: Super Heavy Tanks
Post by: The Reborn on March 7, 2019, 06:09:51 AM
Hi all  :) Just wondering if any of you have experience of using Cobras or Scorpions in 8th edition please?
I play in some very big games, and one or two of my opponents field Castellans, there's a Porphyrion too....Gargantuan Sqiggoth...various smaller knights.  For some time I have considered saving up for a Scorpion....against the type of enemy units I've listed, would it be useful/worth the effort?
Thanks. :)

Despite all of the advice, I went ahead and bought the Scorpion.
Thanks. :)

I've never played with any forge world stuff before, but I've seen the Scorpion in action on a few of StrikingScorpion82's battle reports on youtube. Yeah, it's devastating ;D!

Best bang in SH Tanks is the Cobra II, although the Scorpion is also great for it has a multitude of weapons to use.

Cobra has a bigger gun than the scorpion and is a multiwound killer.

Scorpion has a more define anti infantry role.

I wish I can be more presice than this without breaking rules.

I have a lynx which has proved itself a few times. We don't get to many big games so don't get to use it much. The scorpion is always the one I wanted but alas just coat to much for the very limited amount of action it would see. Let us know if you get one and how well it works.

This is how you would think it is based on the fluff and the models.
By the current rules, though, there is almost no target the Cobra would be better against than the Scorpion while having much less range and no anti-infantry capabilities.
It is cheaper in consequence, even more so since CA 2017 (or rather the Scorp more expensive), but I'd still take a tank that is actually useful over one that is not es expensive but still quite.
