Agreed. His painting is one of the best I've seen for an IG army while I've been on this forum.

Markay has my vote. I quite appreciate the freehand work.

I'm voting fugitive - really nicely painted, and his custom turret is really cute.

Wow!  Add lijah_cuu and Dr. R to the three already mentioned, and that's my top five.  (@Dr. R:  I prefer the subtle desert camouflage shading on your chimera to the solid tans that I think I remember on some of your other vehicles.  Looks really sharp.)  I'm leaning a certain way, but I'm tired and I'm going to sleep on it.

NEXT DAY:  I went w/Markay for overall cool factor - great theme and lots of eye candy to embellish.  I would have made Dr. R the runner up for the nice paint job and best camo color scheme, IMO.  Kudos to Parak & Fugitive for excellent, clean paint jobs.  (I usually get transfixed by Parak's neat-o conversions, but the Chimera was a little tamer.)  And the paint job, color scheme and theme of l_c's Chimera also worked very nicely.

NIcely done guys, many good looking rides here, but the good doctor's just appealed to me a slight bit more than the other half dozen I was going to vote for. Very tough choice as always.

Wow, there are some really good entries here.  Took about 10 minutes of going back and forth to decide, but I think I'm going to have to go with Dr. R's.  I almost voted for like 5 other entries too, but I think it just came down to visually that was most appealing to me, and I really like the way the camo was done.

Great job to everybody that entered.  I think the next one of these competitions I might have to enter...

We need more votes. Currently it's a four to six way tie. More votes needed.

This definitely a really good show here. The chimera screams standard issue I G hardware as much as the leman Russ and the lasgun.

As for my voting, as stated, its very close to call. The standard is always high from Wuxiong, the good Dr.  Fugitive and Markay (those graffiti markings are hot!).

Lijah Cuu and Raukov, who are relatively new to the forums are all about the cool here, with awesome paintjobs (raukov also has dropped in some smooth conversion work for a very subtle change to the chimera, that kicks ass without changing the overall profile of the vehicle).

Chosen man has a particularly bling chimera, sporting nice forgeworld goodies (the stormtrooper tank commander is one of my favourite models, I can never get him to sit in a cupola however, so kudos!) and a cool blue scheme. I didn't have the guts to paint the 40th corps vehicles blue.

Lasblasters Chimera is pretty sweet as well. I love the way the metals are painted, they have a nice burnished look to them.

Lt Haller has the most be-atchin hunter killer Ive ever seen. Striking paint scheme as well.

deathfang23's chimera has definitely been through the wars, the blown off front section of the tracks is pretty cool.

Lt. Pliskin AJ has got nice simple weathering touches, the impact craters are very stylised and the stowage looks well placed, which is something I struggle with getting to look right.

Decisions...Decisio ns

Thanks everyone who complimented my chimera, even if you didn't vote for me.  And expecially thanks to VoodooTiger and Gurney, who did. 8)

Glad you like the camo style, Voodoo... feel free to p #mail me and I can tell you how its done... its super easy and pretty darn cheap, too (you don't need anything expensive like an air brush, just a few different cans of spray paint).

(@Dr. R:  I prefer the subtle desert camouflage shading on your chimera to the solid tans that I think I remember on some of your other vehicles.  Looks really sharp.)

Thanks, though I think you may be thinking of someone else - my tanks are all done the same, see for yourself:
My Hellhounds, Russ 1, Russ 2, Griffon.  Only my Sentinel is solid tan, as it was too small to do my tank technique on.

And as others have said, some truly excellent work in this one - great to see all these fantastic chimeras.  Pretty much all of them have some feature that I loved, and it is only my particular fondness for Fugitives cute little turret (and excellent use of red) that prevented voting from being an aggonising decision for me.

Wow! Thats the best description of my chimera turret so far. :) I hope all you guard players out there heard that. Cuteness is the way to bring fear into the hearts of our enemies.

Indeed. I think the worst part of the painting competition is that once I cast my vote I always feel a little guilty for all the other entries that I didn't vote for.

I always see fugitive's picture of the tank commander, and when I saw his entry I just felt at home. My vote is to him. Somewhat wish my decision was not based on an over priced metal bit. But he deserves it for the beautiful metal box.
