Missing opponent.......
« on: June 28, 2005, 08:29:02 PM »
Just wondering if anyone else noticed this, but in the new space marine codex, they have pictures of them fighting against every other opponent of the imperium of man except the dark eldar. I don't know what this means, or if it should even be in the general 40k topic, but I just wanted to create some discussion about it.

I never noticed that before. Looks like just another way to not publisize the Dark Eldar yet again. That sucks, but good job on noticing that, I never would have even thought about somthing like that.

The only thing I could come up with is that they are totally re-vamping them and it's going to be a big surprize when they show up.

Sadly it's just more likely that the red-headed stepchild of GW that is the Dark Eldar are once again relegated to the shadows.  It's kind of funny but in all the examples throughout the main rulebook where it lists types of units and the like (ie examples of how to model sentries or that kind of thing) Dark Eldar are seldom if ever mentioned.

I actually noticed that as well. I just started playing DE and i love them. Its hard to say what will happen to the DE. I usually don't listen to rumors so ill just wait and see if we get a much needed overhaul. If it does come it will probably be after every other army. Including tau and necrons.

Its funny how in the rulebook examples the space marines are always shown shooting up termegants or charging into close combat and the Tau are always falling back or being minced up in hand to hand.;D

I just thought that I would share that vital peice of information...

space marines are the favored son of GW and they need to push push push marines and at a certain extent people hate marines thne buy other armies to combat marines and some marine players then slowly expand to other armies to try their luck. So is this cycle of doom.
A Space Marine walks into the Apothecarium with a Nurgling on his head.
"By the Emperor" the apothicary cries "how on terra did that get there?"
Then the Nurgling says "well it started out as a wart on my butt and it grew..."

Marines are pushed because they represent over 50% of all GW sales.

TBH I dont see why they would put those god-awful models in any book they dont have to.

DE need new models badly.

Some of the DE models are fabulous...jetbikes, incubi, and warriors aren't that bad.  The rest are pretty embarrassing though.

If you're talking about the age of dark eldar models in general, or about GW's red studio army, I could agree with you. However, the black and green Kabal of the Black Heart studio army still looks pretty decent, even with so many old models in it. Turn to page 246 and 147 of the BGB. Not bad at all, I'd say. :)

incubi are lush as are the jetbikes though not the riders.

Another (much less likely) explanation is that as DE always do lightning-fast raids and it takes some time for marines to be called in, they rarely encounter each other.

More likely they are so fast it's hard to get a photo of them before they are gone. :)

Tyranids seem to be getting a fair push at the moment, but I guess that's just until the next marine codex comes out, just something to make all us non marine players feel included :)

Well I've had my DE on the *bench* for a few years now. I really hope when they finally do get updated and I hope soon. That they are done well and properly.
