Venatio Accipiter - Warhound Titan
« on: February 24, 2008, 05:05:40 PM »
I was in Nottingham for a store event on Friday, I've been pondering Titans for a while, I kinda wanted to wait for a Reaver, but after much thought decided it might be better to start with something smaller and got lucky as there was a Mars Pattern in stock at the store (I'm not a huge fan of the Lucius pattern).

This will log the construction and painting of the Warhound Venatio Accipiter, (which if I'm right translates roughly to Hunting Hawk), it'll be largely a deep blue, with probably a red head, the head being the first part of the project.

I've gone over all the parts, all present and correct, and I've got to say it's really a lovely kit, mold lines are minimal and in this example at least there does'nt seem to be any significant miscasting, probably it's the best FW kit I've picked up to date.

That's one impressive kit. I'd been thinking of investing in a titan myself, but with the exchange rate being what it is, I simply can't afford it. I'll probably be ordering a Macharius to accompany my burgeoning Death Korps though.

Looking forward to seeing this progress.

Yes!!! This'll be good. Question, what ever happened to the Leviathan?
Maybe the regiment consists entirely of Ninjas who were orphaned by Dark Eldar slavers. With a score to settle, these black clad night assassins fight against their hated parent-murderers with laser shurikens and untold ferocity.

The Leviathan is on the back burner for the time being, it will be completed though, just a matter of time ;)

Sweet, I love projects.

I've never seen a Titan in person, can you plop a rhino or chimera down beside his head so I can get an idea of the model scale?

one brief question though, did you get it half price?... wheres the legs?  ;D

only joking, what a fantastic kit, the vulcan mega bolter looks great, ooooh nice 15 shot marine killing goodness!!!! i must admit i do prefer the lucius pattern, but any would do me if it arrived at my door...

i must work some more on the missus, she was keen for me to get one. if i save a few bob between now and games day....  ;D just depends on whether i can keep hold of my tax rebate without buying more artillery for my trenchers!

Come on, this is a mech. You should start from the feet to the head. Build it up from the ground up! But this will be super sexy!

a Hunting Hawk?............... ;D ;).......
If ever played you, I'd bring a farmer with a krak missle launcher.
You should make a plasti-card beak for the head, make it a true hunting hawk.

Hey Gravis, taking a look at the instructions on the Forgeworld site, I noticed that it's supplied with an optional empty command throne. Do you plan to sculpt your own Princeps for the empty seat, or use the one in the kit?

I'm gonna use the existing one, it's a really nice model in itself, and will actually be the first bit to paint, I undercoated it last night, and will be undercoating the head of the titan itself tonight once I've trimmed some excess GS away I used to fill a couple of minor gaps caused by air bubbles.

I'll keep the spare command chair and ankle plates however, I'm sure I can come up with something interesting to do with them.
