Q about Death Cult Assassins and The Independent Rule
« on: January 11, 2005, 10:51:56 PM »
Greetings and salutations all,

I wanted a bit of clarification on the Death Cult Assassins independent special rule. If placed separately, and are within 6” of another unit, can they be picked out by enemy fire, much like “Independent Characters”? My thoughts on this are that they are “Independent Characters” minus the ability to join other units, capture table quarters and such, but they would intern benefit from not beig able to be “picked out” in the shooting phase by your opponent. A little clarification would be wonderful! Thanks in advance,

          -Wanna-B-Fanboy.

As the rules are currently written they would not get any of the benefits of Independent Characters.  In fact the BGB is pretty specific in saying that independent models that function as a 'unit of one' do not gain any IC benefits.  So Deathcult could be picked out if within 6" or be targeted by a unit that passes its leadership test for target priority.
The Tyranids are the most rapidly evolving race in the galaxy.  They are super-predators destined to hunt all others to extinction.

Remember that they can infiltrate and each model must be killed seperately (so a squad gives you 3 models, so unless your facing Tau, 3 squads will have to shoot them to get rid of them). They can either be used as a nasty fire distraction, or equally, an infiltrating squad that will cause a lot of damage in CC

Unfortunately, given their suvivability, you are not forcing your opponent to use up his "Big guns" on these guys.
Infiltration scenario -yeah quite effective.
