EO proposed newsletter
« on: December 4, 2002, 04:59:51 PM »
It has been suggested by Raine that we have a newsletter. We hammered out a few ideas.

The newsletter would:

Be sent to you via e-mail
Consist of tips from tactics and painting
At times contain jokes and/or Comic strips
Consist [of course] of user provided material.
The best would be saved on an archive on the main site.

After a little talk, we decided the best way to get more ideas and general approval was to ask the people. And thus.....

So what do you think? Comments and new ideas?

When wrong, to be made right.
When right, to be kept right.

I think it's a good idea. It will be nice for those people who don't want to or can't post on the forums or get to teh site regularly; with this they wouldn't miss out totally.

Count me out. I come here regularly enough to know what's going on without a newsletter telling me.

How about adding latest updates from GW, and it's various branches. Or new rumors, and speculation.

Must have lots of piccies of all the models by painters and people out there. And drawings too.
Lets call it the Circuit. Or the Infinity Circuit if you prefer long names. Or the Psychic. Or the...

i like infintity circuit,  but i fail to see what exactly it would achieve. i mean, the main thing of EO, for me, is the forum, which, wouldnt apear in a newsletter...

btw, lexington, a member on portent, writew misfirecomics, he has his email all over it if u go and take a look.

It may be surplus to demands ,  but I think it's a good idea anyway .

I think that it would be good to have a short newletter with the best-of-the-best things on all aspects of WH40K included .

It might be an idea to work with 40K.ca to do a more general newsletter .

I'd pass.

I don't need a once-a-year email saying 'hey, do you like the new colors?'

Like previously mentioned (Sasarai), I visit daily and tend to notice the main updates personally.

Perhaps we would make it optional, that we would send only to those who requested it?

You can count me out. I'm here each and every night. I know every Gods-damned thing that happens here, so no need to spoonfeed me.

Count me out, same as Sasari here i am online long enough here so i dont need a news letter, but still i do think it is a great idea for those people who dont have time to be online 24/7.

If this would be the content of the newsletter, then no, not interested, we can read all these things on the EO site:
The newsletter would:

Be sent to you via e-mail
Consist of tips from tactics and painting
At times contain jokes and/or Comic strips
Consist [of course] of user provided material.
The best would be saved on an archive on the main site.

It would be intersetting if the newsletter contains community-news: news about popular topics, forum-innovations, something about the members or mods, ...

Mods coming and going, or new appoinments to mod position should be added, but I don't think it should go into anyone's private life.

A newsletter is a finished product, much different than a collective and on-going message board.  I would appreciate receiving something, but I think a newsletter shouldn't come out any more frequently than monthly, because it ought to be good, right?

Consist of tips from tactics and painting
Maybe if it was a bit more selective than what on the site.  I find this kind of thing in general very lacking consisting mostly of rehash, simple ideas, and IMO occassional bad ideas and information.
Quote
At times contain jokes and/or Comic strips
any thing like that should:
Quote
Consist [of course] of user provided material.
there are some very skilled people on this site, but again, there should be high standards for a works inclusion.  I've thought once or twice of submitting something this might be the impetus i need.  or not

cool beans
I wonder how this would be managed, half the mod-types seem to have little enough time for that as it is.  Maybe there could be a sort of review (message)board to generate material.  I think I could help with something like that on a regular basis
