Can someone point me to the re rolling missed to hits?

At work so I don't have my book for a page reference but look at the second paragraph of the Always Strikes First special rule in the Special Rules section (I think it is the first special rule in the book if memory serves me).

Cheers! Page 66 of the mini rule book clarifies it perfectly!

Quite a handy rule that one for Elves!

True enough, though only for High elves. Also if GW fixed the stupid disparity between the WS tables and the S/T tables then suddenly the high price for a high WS model would be worth it and they wouldn't have to have gimicky rules on I5 models that strike faster the I6 or I7 demons. That's another topic though!

Overall 8th edition has made some big changes to the high elves but none of them are all that terrible and a few are actually in our benefit.

The other thing I don't get is in the high elf rule book for spearmen.

I take it they get 2nd rank attacks from charge but I don't understand what advantage the get in defence? Surely its just the same as normal spears?

Confused about that as well.

Any pointers appreciated.

They get an extra rank bonus. So a Horde of Spearmen would fight in 5 ranks in defence  ;D
That being said, 50 spearmen(!) is rather alot but it allows a 5 wide, 4 deep unit to keep all its attacks, allowing for smaller unit sizes and increased mobility :)
