Title: Adeptus Mechanicus ~1500 points
Post by: magenb on December 7, 2017, 07:52:34 PM
What do you guys think of this list:

HQ
Tech-Priest Enginseer
Tech-Priest Enginseer

Troops
3 Kataphron Destroyers all with Heavy Grav, Phosphor Blaster
10 Rangers, 3 with Arc Rifle and Omnispex
10 Rangers, 3 with Arc Rifle and Omnispex
10 Rangers, 3 with Arc Rifle and Omnispex

Elites
Cybernetica Datasmith
5 Infiltrators
5 Infiltrators

Fast
Sydonian Dragoons with Taser lance
Sydonian Dragoons with Taser lance
Sydonian Dragoons with Taser lance

Heavy
2 Kastelan Robots all Heavy Posphor Blasters
Dunecrawler with Icarus array
Dunecrawler with Eradicator Beamer

Depends on terrain, but the idea would be run them as Stygies. The Dunecrawlers hang out together with a Tech-Priest for reps, similar idea with the other tech-priest and Dragoons, but it can also move on to something else as they charge away. Datasmith and Kastelan Robots also hanging out, depending on lay out they will could hang with the Destroyers as well. The rangers can then provide some bubble wrap. Infiltrators are there as counter assault options.

I think instead of the Eradication Beamer you might be better served by a Neutron Laser. Eradication Beamer is rarely going to get to use it's strong profile and mostly will be using its rapid-firing profile, which isn't that great compared to the still-reasonably-fast-firing Neutron Laser and its amazing performance against vehicles.

Yeah I considered that, it is a tough call though.

The two are super close vs T7/3+, with the E-Beam having the advantage if there is an invul save.

T8/3+ and Neutron is the winner, except if there is an invul save, which there are a fair number of those floating around now.

Then there is the points. If I don't want to drop Wounds, then I have to drop 6 Arc rifles, which are the only AP weapons in those troops.

OK after play testing against my standard Alaitoc force.

Kataphron Destroyers all with Heavy Grav, Phosphor Blaster are great against infantry once you breach the 12" mark that -1 to hits just makes them meh until then, however they just get shredded by dark reapers starswarm missile fire. So they are going to be dropped as I would target them with the reaper first turn if I face them again.

Dunecrawler with Icarus array went up against the crimson hunter, the crawlers invul save kicked in rather well and the reps from the tech-priest is what really kept it in the game. The lack of AP from some of the AA shots really balanced that fight out, both need additional fire to take each other out unless one gets a lucky roll.

Kastelan Robots didn't do much, except for absorb a bunch of Dark Reaper fire, but they are brutal once that 12" gab is closed. Data smith is worth the points. These guys are a very good fire soak.

Sydonian Dragoons worked out as expected really, smashing the transport.

Infiltrators were a mixed bag, one got charges by Banshee's. The other charged the Autarch and whittled each other away. Might give RUSTSTALKERS a try.

Arc rifles did some work as anti-infantry, kind of want more of these lol.

Heavy
Dunecrawler with Eradication Beamer.

Against Eldar the Icarus array is still useful once the Crimson hunter is gone, given a lot of lists have two fliers any way I don't think it is a terrible option at this point.
