ALL VOWS MUST BE IN BY December 10th

Welcome to the December Painting Challenge. We are now into the 2nd year of these, first under Loydb, Khemri Demon and now me. The goal of this challenge is to get some of that unpainted lead that most of us have laying around table-ready. At the start of each month, participants pledge to have a squad painted by the closing date.

I'll list vows made, name and praise those that make it and name and shame those that don't.

You can expect to be 'reminded' of your vow around the 20th of the month if we don't see any further posts after you make the vow.

I'll also compile a gallery of completed vow photos before the thread is locked at the end of the month, so don't just claim a vow is complete, show us!

This one will run for December, January and February. (Note that this is three one-month challenges, not one three-month challenge.)

A squad, for the purpose of definition, would be anything that counted as a unit choice (e.g. HQ, Elite, Troop, etc.). This includes retinue for the independant char (e.g. familiars, bodyguards, etc.). I'd personally like to see multi-model squads -- the purpose of the challenge is to get a bunch of lead painted in a 3-month period -- but maybe you're planning on doing a kickass conversion/paint job for an army leader, nothing wrong with that.

RULES

1. Vows will be frozen 10 days after the start of the challenge. There is no changing of *any* vow after day 10. Say what you'll paint, then paint what you say. If you don't already own the models you want to paint, I suggest not making the vow until you do.

2. This is more of a request than a rule. *Please* post work in progress pics if you possibly can. One of the best things about the thread is watching stuff come together.

3. The model doesn't have to be texture based -- but the base must be painted.

4. Vows in parenthesis/brackets are essentially maybes and therefore won't count towards a fail if you don't do them.

Painting Challenge FAQ

Q: Do I have to do Games Workshop figs?
A: No. Several people make Warmachine vows. Since Warmachine doesn't use squads in the same way that 40K does, I suggest that it be at least a 3-man squad (Menoth Choir, etc.), or a warcaster + at least one warjack.

Q: I need to change my vow!
A: You have until Day 10 of the month.

Q: What if I don't have a camera?
A: We operate on the honor system. If you say you did it, we believe you. There are no prizes, so you only get the satisfaction of lying on the internet if you choose to do so.

Q: Will you do one of these every month?
A: That's the goal. Assuming the board manages to stay up

Q: Hey, what if we finish our vow but decide to paint more?
A: Paint away! If you mean, can you get a head start on next month, I guess so. But it's kind of cheesy to make a vow with a 75% painted unit at the start of the month...

Q: I want to paint a squad of Howling Banshees and a single Ranger. Is the Ranger legal?
A: Yes. The "must count as a troop choice" rule establishes the minimum. Anything above that doesn't have to conform, it's just bonus.

Q: When is the closing date?
A: The month runs with the calendar month. Vows freeze on the 11th.

Thanks to Loydb for getting this up and running (come back any time), and Khemri Demon for continuation. Lets see those vows

I think it's about time that I became a player in these challenges.  I've been watching them for a while now and I have a Dark Eldar army to paint for a tournament at the end of January.
So far I have no idea what I want to get done, so I will let you know before vows close, just figured I'd drop you a line.  Possibly 3 Raiders and a Ravager, there will be a bunch of warriors too, but I don't know how many.
And I have to complete it, otherwise I will be in serious trouble, and at a disadvantage for the tournament.  Then I might explode in a shower of gore and I don't think that would be enjoyable for anybody.

Long time reader, first time caller!

Well, seeing as it's Christmas I'll have some time off work and I need to get a 750 point army ready for Winter Wars come January, so I'll be bold and I'll vow a 750 point Black Templars army :D lol
I've got most of the bits together and once I've worked a list I'll post a proper vow.

Since I can see the light at the end of the tunnel as far as finishing my Tau Army and a bazillion more things to build and paint, another big vow incomming.

16 Fire Warriors
12 Kroot
12 Drones
6 XV25 Stealth suits
6 XV8 Battlesuits with all weapon options
3 Piranahas and Drones
1 Drone Sniper Team
1 Etheral

that would finish em off and in truth I started on the stealth suits already a week or so ago since I finished last months vow early. Stealth suits are 80% done. Test models take forever as the first stealth suit took me 12 hours to figure out what I wanted to do. And to think I still have to do a test model for my kroot and battlesuits heh.

Oh well here's to another happy month of painting all!

Serious I want to fight your DE. They look so pretty and by pretty I mean they have to die!
9,000 pts Eldar - Alaitoc - 6,500 pts Blood Angels
8,000 pts Imperial Guard - 3,000 pts Tryanids
3,000 pts Sisters of Battle - 4,000 pts Orks
2,000 pts Chaos - 1 Massive Crack Addiction

One immolator. It doesn't sound like much But as part of the vow I will assemble it, with magnetised weapons Including, an idea I have to  have a magnetised gun carriage on the top So I can swap it from Immolator to exorcist...

Look you'll know what I mean when I post pics.

You can wait until January if you want, it's not like we'll stop just to thwart you. Plus even if SeriousCallers stopped running it, with my exams over, I'd be happy to pick it up again.

Vows updated.

So we have 18 vows in so far, with details to follow from Rojo. GM Judah, do want to give details of your 750pt BT army too?

Web Ghost - if you think you can paint a squad this month, feel free to vow. You can always withdraw by the 10th. We'll still be doing this next month though. I've got too large a backlog of DE to stop now.

Anyone from last months vow, I've posted, as requested, a gallery of completed vow photos. I'll do the same this month if we like this.
