new heavy choice poosibility
« on: July 27, 2003, 05:20:41 PM »
How about the Poison Arc. A venom upgraded with a Heavy choice and no transport ability. Twin-linked star cannons or twin-linked bright lances not just singles like a Vyper. Whatcha think?

I actually VDR'd one of these up, and made it a super Venom, actually exactly the same as your model with AV 11 all around and a Holo-Field.  I think it came to 120 pts, but it's been a long time since I made it, so my memory might be a little shaky.  I think I had it able to carry 1 IC too, which would be wonderful for my newly-developed super DJ, Endbringer.  Though, for 220 pts, it'd be a tough thing to lose, especially for the Harlies.  But, with TL Starcannons, plus carrying Endbringer, with his BS5 BL, he'd make quite a dent in anything armoured that's thrown at me.  Now that I make it up, it comes to 164 pts, with BS4 and no Holo-field upgrade (the standard points value).  I think I could spare 280 pts. in my army to put this beast and Endbringer in.
I like the name, too.  The Poison Arc sounds quite evil.  Anyone else made one of these?

The VDR gives full roaming-space for these things, and you can create whatever you like. I have seen Harlequin super-vypers before, as well as super-tanks and warmachines. They always feel, well, off to me. Harlequins are a close-combat army, and the only heavy supports they should, historically, have are the DeathJesters and the Spiritwalker/Dreadnought/Wraithlord. Anything which adds firepower to them unbalances the list, and makes them too well-rounded. They are supposed to be hand to hand specialist, snot all all-round army like the Marines.

Lost Roads - finally released!

I understand what you are saying but a venom is a trans like a falcon/wave serpent. It is also small enough to travel the webway. But you are probably right, but a venom/poison arc is a fast vehicle.

How about giving Venom the ability to upgrade the TL shur cats to a shur cannon, bright lance or star cannon? Better then just a fusion gun and it would have a reason to be a Heavy Supprot choice.

One thing you could do is make a different model of the Wraithlord, not quite as big as a Revenant but still a CC monster with a spirit stone.  This one could have armor.  I'll look into it with the VDRs when  I have time.
