Might as well throw mine up on in there, trying desperately to remember who I played.

Game 1 vs Morgan's Wooden Spoon Guard- Minor Victory (2 objectives to me, one to him)

Not a bad start all in all, Carnifex with Barbed Strangler visited muchos muchos death on the puny Guardsmen cowering at the other end of the board, to my immense delight. Having said that, I did take quite a beating from his God Damned Pie Plates (4 Ordnance templates? 4?). Should have won it by more but made a mistake by going mental trying to kill his God Damned Leman Russ with my genestealers instead of going "beslubber this noise" and wandering back to hunker down on the objective. Good game, cheers Morgan for being such a good sport (especially with that dice rolling, I actually felt bad)

Game 2 vs Ian's Shiny Guard- Minor Victory (2 objectives to me, 1 to him)

This was an incredibly close game and really good fun, despite being versus Guard again. Ian's canny deployment meant that I had to cross a massive no-man's-land to get into CC, which in turn meant that I got shot. A lot. So much in fact that this game set a new precedent- first time I've ever seen my walking Tyrant with Tyrant Guard die. Ever. Did however manage to secure a pair of objectives and move him off the objectives by Turn 5 (think it was 5). Rolled to see if we went to Turn 6... no. Phew. Excellent game.

Game 3 vs Chris' Deathwing Of Ineffective Power Fists- Minor Victory (I believe it was 6-5, but I'm not entirely sure. I had one more than him anyway)

Quite possibly the best game of the tournament, this pitted the might of my Tyranid force against Chris' Deathwing. Despite slightly screwing up my deployment I advanced fairly rapidly on Chris, managing to avoid total destruction at the hands of his non-rending assault cannons and making a string of invulnerable saves on the Flyrant from the twin-linked lascannons coming my way. This was to be a theme. Around about Turn 3 I finally got into range with some guns other than the mostly useless Barbed Strangler (which had hit a squad of 5 terminators, wounded 3 and killed none), and blazed away. All of a sudden they started dropping like extremely well armoured flies, and shortly afterwards my Flyrant took on Belial's squad. After a fairly sketchy to hit/to wound roll that fell a mere 2 terminators I prepared for the shock of the return attacks. 2 powerfists wounded and I rolled for Warp Field, not expecting a lot... 2 6s. It was at about this point that Christ exploded. A few turns later and I'd essentially dismantled his force, leaving only a single, armless Venerable Dreadnought...which I couldn't kill. Curses. After tallying things up at the end I discovered that despite having essentially wiped out his force and receiving relatively minimal casualties in return I had only received one extra Kill Point. Damn it. Nevertheless, a great game.

Game 4 vs Nick's Pointy Eared Bastards- Minor Loss (2 objectives to him, 1 to me)

We buggered up the rules for this one somewhat and as a result both armies appeared in a rather more piecemeal manner than they should have. The fact that half my army hadn't shown up at the right time combined with Nick's EEEEVIL tactic of deploying right up to the halfway line and then redeploying to the back of the board with Eldrad kind of shafted me. Advancing (VERY) slowly under torrents of firepower, worst of all from those God Damned Fire Prisms, I managed to grab an objective. That's about all that can be said really, I got completely atomised in this one. Worst moment of all has to be the Walking Tyrant going down to Mind War, bewilderingly leaving his Guard wandering around on their own.

All in all a great day except for that last day, which is kind of nobody's fault really. Cheers all- I'll get you next time Erriond!

Starting with first place...

1st Hymril - 25 points

2nd Richard - 24 points

3rd O;nk -23 points

[snip="more numbers"]

Erriond

Ah! NUMBERS! My inner statistician is pleased...  Here are some stats for you:

26 was the number of players (so the 'sample size').
17 was the average (mean) score.
4 was the standard deviation (average difference from the mean).
And the five quartiles:
Q0: 8 (minimum)
Q1: 14
Q2: 16 (median)
Q3: 20
Q4: 25 (maximum)

And here's the plot:

And yes, I did just stick the numbers in a calculator. :D

Thanks to all the people I played against, my Chaos marines have sated their thirst for death (their own ::)) for a while!

Ah you didn't play me, your game just also had 5 stealth suits running down an entire charging unit of kroot!
I'm going to tell you what I tell every Dark Angels player. Keep your awesome models and your great background, accept that GW secretly hates you and just play with the rules from the new dex

Will have the Pics and Vid up later
to all the guys well done
to Teg (JAMMY) :)

just to add to the debate BFG runs a random - Uno Card allocation (number on card denotes which table you play on first round) drawn from hat rest of round are Swiss with alteration to allow any last round challenges and make sure no double ups

For the 8th 40KOLFT- you guys want to
1 - run it on a Bank Holiday Monday ( as we can only get the Third Saturday of any month)
2 - Get BFG to run the organisation in the backroom - score cards, scoring, first round ?
As both Erriond and gOOgle are BFG members we could fit it in with the club set up and get it covered by GCN/WD/GW coverage

Ok that over with ope everyone had a good journey home and As Premethus said See you in October :P

hey hoo?  why you say that?

Heading off to sunny Sith Ifrica in December ( ah , 35+ degrees on the beach a stones throw from my folks house ) for a few months . Then hopefully off to somewhere else on the globe . So will most probably not even be in the same hemisphere as Bracknell come Easter . Sure I mentioned this already somewhere ?

It kept me wanting to punch babies for the forseeable future.

WTF ??  :D

Hey all,

Can I have some input into the dates of the next tournament. BFG club were considering entering the event in white dwarf as well in the events page as they do with their own events so if you have an opinion on that too, good or bad (but polite please!) then I would love to hear it.

The options are:

Saturday 4th April
Saturday 11th April
Monday 13th April (easter monday bank holiday)
Saturday 18th April

The 25th is also an outside option if it proves popular. Let me know what you think.

Cheers!

Erriond

Just as an aside, I won't be available for the 4th as thats the weekend my club are running our tournament and yours truly will be acting as rules judge for the event and won't be able to come back to defend my title. :D

The Vanquish event being five 1500 point games of 40K played on tables of outstanding quality terrain over two days, with the regular missions spiced up with our custom secret objective cards, cheap food and drink on hand, and only £15 to attend btw (link to our site with info in my sig...)
Ok, I'm done with the plug now, sorry. :P
