Ok, I'd like you guys to rip this apart...
I've been off the whole painting thing for alot of years, but recently dug up my Blood Bowl stuff again. Figured I'd sell off my old WHFB and 40k-stuff (hardly painted anything and almost never played).
Basically, I've been painting for ages but extremely sporadic and not even on a "regular hobby" level. Also, this is the first time in years I paint anything but a Blood Bowl orc.
Usually I'm _superslow but this guy didn't take me more than some a few hours...
I know, that's slow as well.
Anyways, main point of painting him up is that I'm starting an IG army and wanted to try out this colour scheme I plan on using on my cadians.
and based:
Managed to get a splodge of bubonic on the boot though... Didn't notice until now. =(
Stuff I myself am not very happy with:
* The boots.
I just can't see contours on a black part of a mini. My eyesight is too poor... (new glasses coming though) When I look at the boots, based in black, it's just a black blur. That's why I surrendered to drybrushing them.
* The eyes.
Same thing here. I basically painted the eyes blind folded as I can't see the detail that up close when it's all in one colour. They look a bit off, and one of the eyes was probably redone 5-6 times. If I had some putty around, I'd made him an eye patch.
*The gun.
It's incredibly rushed, I couldn't get it the way I wanted so I lost patience and painted some very basic highlights on black, and then washed it with black wash. Afterwards, I drybrushed a few greys on it. Curse my patience!
*The "flap" on the uniform, below the gun.
The outline on the flap there looks very uneven and if I hadn't been so impatient when painting him I'd redone it.
Actually, come to think of it... The whole model looks like amphetamine parrot on a close up pic like this. Looks alot better on an arm's length... as all of us who've taken pics of our minis know.
Oh, btw... The base is done now. Snakebite leather, and then bubonic drybrush. Probably should've taken another pic after that so you could get a proper image of him. Oh well, imagine a nicer looking base plz...
Anyways, I'd love to hear some constructive criticism. I'm really getting into this whole painting thing again, and am looking to improve my skills. First I'd like to have a dedicated modeling and painting desk though... Too small apartment for that though, and my girlfriend doesn't like the idea of having a desk full of paint and minis in a corner in the kitchen.
