Hey im from australia too. I'm in Brisbane (we lost state of origin :'() and im from coorparoo.
A friend and I have recently started a new clan/club for warhammer 40,000 in Brisbane, Australia. At the moment we are just about Warhammer 40,000 but hopefully we will soon be expanding into warhammer fantasy and many other games workshop games. The problem is that we are currently very low on members and have no real way to advertise so if you live in the Brisbane area please have a look at our website and dont hesitate to email us if you have any questions.

Canberra is. Sydney and Melbourne both wanted to be capital. They couldn't decided, so they made Canberra the capital, which is half way between Melbourne and Sydney

Actually I don't think actually half way between Sydney and Melboure. I've just looked it up and Canberra is 302km from Sydney and 656km from Melbourne. This is obviously because Sydney is more important than Melbourne. ;D
But the Mexicans shouldn't panic as the Banana-benders have their capital almost twice as far away again.

odd, everyone at the mt gravatt store loves 40k, and us fantasy players struggle to find new opponents. you can only play slayer dwarves so many times....
originally from the sunshine coast (not the gold coast damn it! :P) but moved to brisbane for uni. its so odd being close to an actual "city". and we laugh at tasmanians because you all have two heads ;)

Brisbane has a few places to play 40k depending on where you are in Brisbane. These are a few I can think of off the top of my head.
Northside you have the Queensland Gamers Guild who have a 40k league which is in Toombul or Hendra or somewhere like that. They run two 40k tournments a year: The Big Weekend and ORK-toberfest which I typically go two. Also Brisbane Online Games out at Ashgrove used to hold 40k events, not sure if they do anymore. There is also Wargames Warhouse in Stafford which runs events.
Southside, you have a group that runs out of the Chandler Sports Complex (can't remember there name). There was a group running out of a hall in Holland Park can't remember if that's Blind Pig or not. Then there is apparently a group out at Browns Plains as well. Warhounds runs out of Comic Warriors now which is my hold haunting ground and that's in Annerley.
Also the GW Battle Bunker in Mt Gravvat has games on Friday night I do beleive.
So there are plenty of spots in Brisbane to play, you just need to find them.

Anyway, I play Eldar allsorts, barrack for Essendon, and am deeply aggrieved that the Aussies lost the Ashes.

Cool Xodiac, I'll be there with my Ulthwe as well. Just look for the 9man seer council and 2 wraithlords with flame motifs and no aspect army and thats me :) Its over 50 players now so should be a good event. Seems there is going to be a few Eldar as well which is good.

According to my plan at the moment...
At about the end of this month (Jan) OR early in Feb, I will be down in Melbourne for quite a long time. So I would like to know if anyone is there.
Just to tell you first. I don't have an army with me right now as I sold all of my models when I was moving from another country... So having a game OR two straight when I get there is unlikely... :-\
But once I have built an IG army (in the future), perhaps we can have a few games sometimes.

3. NSW and VIC are still fighting about who is the Nations capital
4. There are actually normal people from Perth + Adelaide . . . . .. i think ;)
5. I seem to be the only Canberran here.... :'(
6. Nobody knows WTF a cursket is ???
I mainly paint more than play (haven't rolled a dice in over a year) but that's more out of time restrictions than choice...... dam having to work to pay bills and stuff....
I am currently working on an Iyanden force atm, but have a large stock of BA's and a bunch of Tzeentch's finest.

Well, I originally hail from Traralgon in Victoria, but I currently reside in Melbourne at La Trobe University (and will for at least one more year). I am currently the President of the War Gamers of La Trobe (WGoL for short) out of almost an accident and we are always keen for new players.

Why can't Queensland be sensible and have Daylight savings, too, would avoid much confusion.
