2k Greywater Fastness Army
« on: October 12, 2019, 04:08:24 PM »
I’ve been working on this list mostly for fun.  It’s an attempt to create a sort of 40k imperial guard style list in AoS.

Allegiance: Greywater Fastness

Heroes

Steam Tank Commander (General)
Command Trait: Ghoul Mere Ranger
Artefact: Mastro Vivetti’s Magnificent Macroscope

Runlord
Artefact: Steam-piston Plate Mail

Cogsmith with Cog Axe (Part of artillery company)

Battleline

Steam Tank

Steam Tank

20 Irondrakes
Ironwarden with Grudgehammer Torpedo, 2 standard bearers, 2 hornblowers

20 Freeguild Hangunners
Marksman with Long Rifle, 2 standard bearers, 2 Pipers

20 Freeguild Hangunners
Marksman with Long Rifle, 2 standard bearers, 2 Pipers

Helstorm Rocket Battery (Part of artillery company)

Helstorm Rocket Battery (Part of artillery company)

2 Gyrocopters with Brimstone Guns

Battalion: Greywater Artillery Company

Points Total: 1970
Command Points: 3
Artifacts: 2

I don’t think it would be that competitive but it does seem fun and fluffy.  What do you guys think?

Hi Calamity,

While I think Greywater Fastness is thematic and fun, I'm just afraid of all that can happen with an all shooting army in the Game of AoS :P. Kharadron overlords was the first attempt at this, and though Cities probably does the better gun line army due to updated rules, I think you might feel more pain than fun when Khorne, Idoneth, Orruk Warclans get their first turn charges off at the beginning of the game.

That being said, you're far braver than I, Calam ;D! And I don't know the Greywater Fastness rules at all, I'm simply speaking about shooting armies in general.

At the end of the day, it's your armies, so don't let my opinion cloud what you think is fun and what you want to do.

I think it'd be cool to do balanced Hammerhal army of Greatswords, handgunners, and demi-gryphs screened by flagellant hordes... and some artillery like steam tanks. Just an idea ;D ;D ;D.

Shooting is really strong in aos right now, and is a fantastic counter to popular armies like slaanesh and flesh eater courts. You'll find bigger counters in deepkin, and nighthaunt. I know at the most recent aos gt we had in Ontario here,  kharadron took first place,  just blasting folks off the table.

Looks like a fun list. I'd probably just try and find a way to make some screening units of freeguild guard, just to prevent a turn 1 charge from shutting down your shooting effectiveness. also, the free cities have such powerful use of endless spells, it seems like a shame to not include any.

The quicksilver swords could be a nice cheap mortal wound generator, or the soul soulscream bridge can help you quickly reposition your slow tanks and shooting units to where you need them to go.

Just some ideas.
