"Snow"? Not only is he really old I don't think anyone actually considers him a rapper. Notice how no one mentioned him but you?
Listen to the ones I suggested. I will put actually song titles later so you can download them and see what I am talking about.

Now, I'm gonna interject a bit of the unknown into this.
I listen to Instrumental (Yes, it was mentioned), and J-Pop/rock music. I wonder how many of you know of Hisakawa Aya, Hayashibara Megumi, or Yuko Sasaki? (Some of my favorites)
As for instrumental, Nobuo Uematsu is a popular choice (At least, pre FFVIII), and Joe Hisaishi's contribution to Mononoke Hime (The OST).
As for the stuff mentioned so far, I generally don't like most of it! I listen to very little North American/European stuff, and that is generally while I'm at work and have little choice otherwise.

Too much to say, but for justa few of my favourites.

Slipknot. !!Definetly Slipknot!! (Am I alone here?)
Rammstein.
Motörhead.
Stuck Mojo.
Iron Maiden. (DOH)
Bloodhound gang. You've got to love some of those lyrics.
James Brown. (Yes, this *IS* a man's world.)
CCR.
AC/DC
WASP (Can you believe it? Some of these lyrics...  ;D)

As a side comment, get your hands on a song "Holy thunderforce" by an italian band called "Rhapsody"

Record that for your tape recorder, MD, CD, whatever. Take it to a game of WH40k. Once you win (with Eldar) play that one, and watch them weep.

well, eh....you're semi-right, fighting scars...

It isn't Linkin Park's fault that they're popular right now, it's MTV's fault. Linkin Park's a real band, one with TALENT, (note the word talent) and it's true that a lot of people like (and don't like) thier style.

It's just a co-inkeydink that MTV likes their style, and to MTV, linkin park is what's "in" right now.  they're just as metal as MushroomHead (umm...maybe not) or Slipknot, and they're mainstream because a lot of people (most of them uneducated followers  :P) just like them at the moment.  Just look at Limp Bizkit.  kickass band that was in, but now, it's out (it was good until Fred Durst took over, anyways..)

and, only the brainwashed masses go for the looks, fighting scars, so you're not alone.  you may be outnumbered, 'cuz you may be the only kid that's NOT wearing Hurley or Etnies or Billabong at your school, but, if you keep true to your style, then it's all good..

and..umm...who's tyler durton?

I listen to really anything I feel like... Usually harder stuff. System of a Down, Limp Bizkit, KoRn, Finger Eleven, Slipknot, Ehm... Anything Techno. I really do like Techno.  Just to add to that last post, I don't watch MTV, and I don't like Linkin Park. I just think their music.... suxxorz.
What do you mean, 'insane'!?
...
Oh. You mean 'insane' as in running a guardian squad in to a bunch of terminators, 'insane.' Yeah. That was pretty stupid.

Sorry, got to say this one now.

Quote
i fear you are not alone in liking slipknot, although you should be.........

What do you mean with that?

And.

Comparing Linkin park to be as metal as Slipknot? Yeah, sure. Theyre music is ok. It's just a *TAD* different from Slipknots instrumental drums and excessive 'heavyness' in melodies. ;)

Since we are talking on it, I like Linkin Park for their music, but the lyrics just make me sick. One of the main reason I have instrumental versions of their songs.. Anyhow.

The lyrics? gah.. "I'm so god-damn angry now that daddy took away my keys to Lexus" in a nuthole.

Everheard of teen-angst? ;)

Nehow, your choice. I listen to mine, you listen to yours. Main thing, you like it. :)

big range....love oldies--beatles, ccr (especially, long as i can see the light....the sax is amazing), otis redding,
jazz/blues stuff--louis armstrong, others
some very little country....most of it sucks now, but there was good stuff for a few years.
new radicals, dmb (yeah, yeah...)
hate rap.

oh, and of course, Christian bands like luna halo, audio adrenaline, jars of clay, sonicflood, dc talk, etc.
and classical stuff...i love the soundtrack to braveheart...i think i might be in the minority, but i love bagpipes.

**and i should add rock stuff.  when i'm in the mood, i love to blast some rammstein or dragula.  so cathartic.  :)

Tyler Durton is one of the two main characters in Fight Club. it's a vert good movie and really it is a very political movie, not just guys hitting eachother.
