Do you have a macro setting? it looks like a picture of a flower. If so use it.

This ends up being camera specific, so there isn't one easy solution.  You have to experiment.

Like Andaah said, the macro setting, if your camera has it, may help.  Using a tripod, or some other way of holding the camera perfectly stationary should help a lot too, as shaky hands can play havoc on digital cameras.  Also, if your camera has auto-focus, try switching around the background, lighting, and distance between the camera & model, as the auto-focus may 'like' one combination more than others.

there's a number of possible reasons.

1) as mentioned above, you're not using the macro setting on your camera
2) your camera doesn't have a macro setting and/or your camera can't take pictures that close up, what make of camera are you using?
3) your arm is moving when you're taking the pictures, which many cameras don't like.  For this get a stand for you camera, or balance it on something.  I use the timer setting on my camera so I'm not touching it at all when taking pictures.

Had another play around and used the macro setting, pic has turned out alot more clear but still a little blurry.

Thanks Andaah
May try setting it on a tripod too see if this also helps.

You dont 'have' to use a tripod if you dont all ready have one.  I sit my camera on books and then use the time feature so I am not in contact witht the camera when it takes the picture.  This lets me adjust sutter speeds without worry.  My camera also as a 'super macro' function as well as 'macro.'  The super macro lets you get even closer, so close I have actualy tipped a model over by hitting it with the camera (and it was still in focus!).

I just push the button and step back, the camera takes a picture I readjust stuff and do it again untill I am happy.

try moving the camera away from the model and zooming in.

If it's a digital camera, zooming in should be avoided unless it's an actual physical zoom (some cameras like the Sony F717 have 5x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom). Digital zoom is a math trick, and gets the zoom by dropping detail.

And try to avoid using the flash.  If you need light get some old lamps and use them and play with exposure times.
