when you order a bunch of extruded polystyrene foam board to isolate your house but by the time you are ready to install them on your walls, you find out you already used them all for 40k terrain...

now should i use my lava terrain Styrofoam for more heat in these walls? or my glacier islands to keep me cold in the summer...

I just wish I could legally buy extruded polystyrene in the west.

when every time you hear the name gabriel you think its time to play dawn of war
From the skies we rain, as the emperors fist we strike against our foes, until all blood be it alien, heretic or mutant is spilled. we will not rest until the galaxy is cleansed free of these monstrosities and we hold these worlds in the name of humanity and its immortal emperor.

when you start other hobbies to take up the lull between games when you are at a hobby shop for eight hours (two games of 40k and a few of magic while we wait for the other people to finish their game)

When you are constantly comparing the Terrans and the Zerg to the Space Marines and the Tyranids (Starcraft even has Drop Pods and Mycetic spores now :o)

...When you play a similar game yourself.

On the other hand, I just argued with my teacher between the differences of a geek and nerd, using this as a main point.

http://xkcd.com/747/ ...it's pretty self-explanatory.

Also, when you end up using your 40k miniatures in a game of D&D, because they're readily available. Also, there's nothing wrong with playing WoW, I used to myself.
"Our end is come, but what an end! We have been given the most precious gift: a chance to roar our defiance into the foe that overwhelms us with their numbers. Let the Emperor Himself hear our final battle cry! Forward, warriors of the Guard, and die like the heroes you are!"

A good acquaintance of mine plays WOW, and thinks it to be better than 40k.  Funny thing is, he just started up in the LOTR game.
