Huh, wonder how that will work in a combined-map game. If you play as Empire, will you have to worry about the Dark Elves doing stuff in Lustria?

Ah, you beat me to it, you monster.

Anywho, interesting to see it so soon. Also, glad they're going with an early-adopter bonus rather than the preordering patootie.

I have been very busy lately (helping form a new company and whatnot) and have completely forgotten about this  :o

Quote
Steam users who pre-order Total War: WARHAMMER II or purchase within the first week of sale will receive free Total War: WARHAMMER content as an early adopter bonus, playable ahead of Total War: WARHAMMER II's release.

Does this mean, if I buy #2, I get the races from #1 added?

No, it means that if you preorder #2 or buy it within its first week of sale, you get certain goodies in #1 if you already own #1, as far as I understand.

Normally,#1 had one world map with all its factions (The Old World), and #2 has a completely different world map ("The New World" - Ulthuan, Naggaroth, Lustria and the Southlands, iirc), these two do not overlap unless you own both games, then they combine the maps into one giant world map.

Here's footage and commentary for the quest battle that was available at E3. High Elves versus Lizardmen. Kroq'Gar on his carnosaur duking it out against a sun dragon is pretty epic.

World Map revealed. It's pretty huge.

Also Skaven:
Queek Headtaker is gonna be the legendary lord of Clan Mors, which starts in the Southlands.
- Hell Pit Abomination, Doom Wheel and the Bell thing (can't recall name off the top of my head) are all in.
- The other faction seems to be Pestilens themed and starts in Lustria.

That's a fantastic map.  It suitably reflects the impressive nature of the Old and New World and the diversity of forces in the narrative.  I'm really impressed with the amount of work into this game.

Yeah, I'm not gonna go all fanboy, but it's pretty obvious from the game itself, as well as the various vlogs they make, that the developers are pretty big Warhammer fans themselves.

They've enlarged Ulthuan a bit, smushed the seas, and pushed the Southlands a bit westwards, but nothing crazy, and it seems promising.

Also looking forward to Warhammer 2 Total War ;D! All of my favorite races from fantasy are included in the new installment (High and Dark Elves being my ultimate favorite, but then again I like elves of any variety  ;)). I played quite a bit of Warhammer Total War since it launched and play with a few mods like Steel Faith Overhaul and conquer everywhere, Re-skins, stuff like that.

I only hope the vanilla A.I. for Warhammer 2 will be able to recruit top-tier armies in the late game consistently. A.I. Recruitment in Warhammer 1 seemed kind of weird sometimes, Vampires running around with armies full of zombies and probably the biggest annoyance of all, A.I. Legendary Lords never seem to equip their top-tier mount. A little disappointing, but I digress, I'm just nitpicking.

Totally hyped after the Skaven reveal though. Probably one of the most unique looking factions so far.

I am really looking forward to seeing the Tomb Kings in action.  The trailer was fantastic and their objective being different from control the vortex gives them another extra dimension.

Played the first one. Terrible at it due to low patience and wanting things to go boom. Waiting on a decent sale for the second one because Skaven and Tomb Kings.

No, but I have watched a lot of extensive let's plays on one You Tube Channel which have been excellent.  It requires quite a bit of strategy and patience to get right, especially if you're playing some of the more challenging factions, such as Vampire Counts, but it's really rewarding when you get the opposing faction just where you want them, and there is so much more to the game than just battles as well.

I picked up the first one on sale, and was going to use this as my first foray into the Total War series.  I am going to have to give it a concerted effort to try and get into it, because the game play is not at all what I was expecting.

It's an acquired taste. I'd played Rome before so knew mostly what was coming.
