Host of Dann
« on: April 19, 2017, 01:03:09 AM »
Life has distracted the painting progress, but these will be the first batches. Units have been stripped down or re-bought, ready for the revamp. The fluff for the Dann Host is in the Eldar background thread. So here we go!

The Guardians colours

Very nice!
I really like the colour scheme for the Guardian, I almost went for something very similar when doing my Corsairs!
Can't wait to see what you do with the aspects.

Really, really love that Guardian. The white helm, black armor and red gems look fantastic. Super nice job on the highlights and the gems. The white helmet is also smooth as hell. Killer work Saim-Dann. Can't wait to see this army grow! I'd love to dive back into my Eldar... I want to convert up a 3rd unit of Corsair Scorpions... but the other armies demand attention! I'll have to live vicariously through you! Killer stuff... can't wait to see more of those Guardians!

I like it, very nice edge highlights on that Guardian armor, very nice eye lenses and great Stones! Out of curiosity: Did you paint the white helmets over black primer? Looking forward to do something similar with my 30k Emperor's Children but couldn't decide whether to paint the helmets seperately.

The word 'politics' is derived from the word 'poly', meaning 'many', and the word 'ticks', meaning 'blood sucking parasites'.

Thanks everybody! A little nervous starting this thread. So your kind words mean a lot.

Auric: Went with the black armour because I was tired of the multi layers of paint required for red. Particularly on Guardians who die just by looking at them. The thought of spray, detail then highlight really appealed to me. Much sharper edges on the models, also.

Cavalier: Yeah; white is tough. Was inspired by the Corsairs in the Imperial Armour 11. Made a commitment now, Cav. Gotta finish what I started.

Katamari: Painted the helmet separately and by hand. Wanted to krrp the detail of the eyes and gems.

Looking great. Love the guardian colour scheme and you've done a superb job on the gems as well.

Thanks Dog of War! Those gems are the tedious part of our Eldar, but worth it.

That guardian is a great start to your army Dann. Black, Red and White is always a killer combo, and you've achieved a superb, clean result. I like the splashes of gold and lighter red too, they help the model pop a little more.

I can't wait to see the rest of your army take shape. Keep it up!

Nice start. Ditto to all above comments. I like the darkness of the guardians. The Hawks have a really good color choice, nice to see non blue and a more natural pallet.  8)

Thanks Magenb! Having the armour black makes the little things like that stand out.
