2 new regiment ideas
« on: September 1, 2008, 11:53:22 PM »
one is the 111th  cadian airborne... this would be an airborne army(duh) aNd would mostly get started once the new valkerie comes out...hopefully. the entire army would be decked out with these http://www.westwindproductions.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=130_181&products_id=1092 heads. the appearence would be swat like with blue tunics/black armor and red berets

my next idea would be the 12th kaskan pdf. these would be made to look as much like the spetsnaz in cod 4 using a variety of as mask heads and conversions. overall a scrappy look, mostly green... would be interesting.

now the question is... which one

Why not start by combining them both. You could do the spetznaz kasrkin as the stormtroopers in your airborne force. Then as time goes on you could alter it to either phase in more kasrkin (adding the grenadiers doctrine) or phase them out for lighter and more specialised drop troops (ie. swap the stormtroopers for hardened veteran squads by adding the veteran doctrine.) This will allow you to build up a force and find out yourself what style of play you prefere.

I really like the modelling ideas, for swat style I always like to add some plastic scout parts to make them more geared up looking. Im not that familiar with CoD4 but I know how hard spetznaz can look.

Hope this helps and Im looking forward to seeing your army as it grows. Make sure to post some pics if you can on the your army thread.

oops didnt realize this but... those wont be kasrkins... kaskan is the regiment name whik i think i might change it to something less mistakeable. ps. the second one would be a P.D. F    to follow the theme

Ah, OK. sorry, Im with you now. both are good ideas.

I havent seen a guard army based on the spetznaz I dont think so Id like to see that but The swat idea is quite simple to do with plenty of scout parts and the some cut down lasrifles.

Really, the question is which idea you prefer - telling you which we prefer may not be that helpful. 8)

A new valkyrie? I like the idea of an airborne army over the PDF, but it's not my army so it's your decision.

thanx for the feedback but are there any more ideas as to what i could do along the lines of conversions for either army?... ooh and if you do give me extra ideas, i promise a picture of a model  that is named after the idea-giver at some point in my army:P (maybe a pimped veteran squad that will be entered in the golden demons)

ps: whih one do you think would look nicer on the feild in the long run

If you decide to do the Spetsnaz here's a few links to help give you some conversion ideas.  In addition to these I would check out some of the kit at "The Assault Group"  and  the heads you mentioned from Westwind.

There's a tone more on that site, it's just those are the only one's on the front page.

Well, what I find most effective, is first think to yourself, can you see yourself in THEIR uniforms?
Could you picture an army dropping from the sky or gunships homing in dropping waves of kasrkin troopers into the hell we call home?
IF so, then look at this as well:
Can I see myself pulling the entire army though with no distractions from other armies?
Can I make them work to my own taste and tactics?
IF the answer for both was yes, then there is part 1 complete.

Now, in terms of the army, I would combine them! Paratroopers with grenadiers is one of the most efficient armies out there. They can drop in when called uponed and deliver a swift strike to the enemy, before drawing back and allowing the slower elements of the army to advance in and take the grounds. Combining them seems good however, if you are concerned about pricing, aim for grenadiers first as the platoons of troopers will cost you alot of money to put together. Grenadiers are cheap, hard to murder, and can swing around to hit the enemy in all directions.
