Oh herro. It's a 2500-point Nidzirra Gunrine with 66 Toughness 6 wounds and a rotta dakka.

HQ:
270 points: Hive Tyrant with Heavy Venom Cannon, Bonesword and Lash Whip, Paroxysm and Psychic Scream
-Tyrant Guard with Bonesword:

265 points: Tyrannofex w/Rupture Cannon, Cluster Spines, Dessicator Larvae.

Total: 2500 points.

Strategy:
Attrition the opponent to death through weight of fire over time (MCs cannot be shaken after all) while outmaneuvering him; Tyranids are pretty awesome in that their entire army can maintain firepower on the move. The Termagants provide cover (and a buffer against melee/Deep Strike armies) for the Hive Guard, who provide cover for the bigger monsters.

Onslaught is pretty much the main supporting power for this army, so that the Hive Guard can get into range with the enemy quicker, or that either the Tyrannofexes or Hive Guard can more easily maneuver to hit vehicles in their side arcs, or for the Tyrannofex to act as a Banewolf++ in emergency situations. And finally, the Tyrants were a replacement for Harpies for there are plenty more Strength 10 hits lurking about than in lower point-level games, and having extra Toughness 6 wounds does its part to frustrate the enemy. Trading firepower to survive alphastrikes becomes more important at this point-level after all. Paroxysm is the no-brainer power for them, but why Psychic Scream? Simple, it affects all enemy units regardless of the unit you're targeting, so you can fry nearby units locked up in assault with Termagants, while still maintaining fire-suppression against enemy vehicles.

Well, I just got back from my vacation to Thailand from Virginia USA grossing a total of ~50 hours of flying!  :o  During my flights I had some time to put some thought into some army lists which I tend to compile multitudes of anyway.  So, I thought I would share a bunch of them with you all and I hope it motivates you to assemble 2k pt armies as this, IMO, makes for more interesting games using multiple units in a codex that you cannot get as much with smaller games.  Feel free to C&C any of them and/or tell me which one is your favorite and why.  See any flaws or weaknesses in any of them please do let me know.

Army List #1  Very fast and mobile as well as shooty with a CC punch!  Kill Point mission only d/t low Troops!

HQ:  [160] The Parasite of Mortrex

Fast #1:  [128] Gargoyles x16, TS, AG

Fast #2:  [128] Gargoyles x16, TS, AG

Fast #3:  [275] Shrikes x5, Boneswords, TS, AG

Elite #1:  [180] Zoanthroapes x3

Elite #2:  [150] Hive Guard x3

Heavy #1:  [250] Trygon Prime, AG

Heavy #2:  [195] Carnifex, TL-Devourers, Stranglethorn Cannon

Heavy #3:  [195] Carnifex, TL-Devourers, Stranglethorn Cannon

Troops #1:  [168] Hormagaunts x21, TS

Troops #2:  [168] Hormagaunts x21, TS

Total = 1997

Army List #2  "Dual Flyrant List"  Fast and Mobile with highly destructive units!  This army composition should do well against high Toughness armies including Necrons with large amounts of Destroyers.  Each Gargoyle unit hugs a Flyrant and the Gargoyles benefit from OA hopefully rolling more 6s' to ignore the To Wound roll from Blinding Venom, anything further requiring 4+ To Wound rolls.

HQ #1:  [270] Hive Tyrant, Wings, OA, TL-Devourers w/ BLW

HQ #2:  [270] Hive Tyrant, Wings, OA, TL-Devourers w/ BLW

Fast #1:  [140] Gargoyles x20, TS

Fast #2:  [140] Gargoyles x20, TS

Elite #1:  [150] Hive Guard x3

Elite #2:  [100] Hive Guard x2

Elite #3:  [180] Zoanthroapes x3

Troops #1:  [50] Termagants x10

Troops #2:  [200] Tervigon, ST, TS, AG, C.Spines; Catalyst

Troops #3:  [176] Hormagaunts x22, TS

Troops #4:  [176] Hormagaunts x22, TS

Troops #5:  [140] Genestealers x10

Total = 1992

Army List #3  Nid`Zilla Just for fun list.  Non-Objective Games suggested.  I wrote this list with OA on the Dakka Flyrant but I think I meant to take Hive Commander instead to outflank the Hormagaunts and to get the Zoanthroapes and Trygon Prime on the field earlier.

HQ:  [285] Hive Tyrant, Wings, TL-Devourers w/ BLW x2 pair; Old Adversary

Elite #1:  [235] Zoanthroapes x3; Mycetic Spore w/ Barbed Strangler

Elite #2:  [150] Hive Guard x3

Troops #1:  [60] Termagants x12

Troops #2:  [200] Tervigon, ST, CS, AG, TS; Catalyst

Troops#3:  [176] Hormagaunts x22, TS

Heavy #1:  [250] Trygon Prime, AG

Heavy #2:  [260] Old One Eye!

Heavy #3:  [380] Carnifexes x2, TL-Devourers w/ BLW x2 pairs

Total = 1996

Army List #4  Competitive Nid`Zilla for non Objective games.  Deepstrike heavy with 8 MCs' and 4 Barbed Stranglers!

HQ:  [220+120]  Hive Tyrant, HVC, Leech Essence & Paroxysm; Hive Commander.  + Tyrant Guard x2

Heavy #1:  [240] Trygon Prime, AG

Heavy #2:  [240]  Carnifex, Bio-Plasma, Frag Spines; Mycetic Spore w/ Barbed Strangler

Heavy #3:  [240]  Carnifex, Bio-Plasma, Frag Spines; Mycetic Spore w/ Barbed Strangler

Elite #1:  [150] Hive Guard x3

Elite #2:  [235] Zoanthroapes x3; Mycetic Spore w/ Barbed Strangler

Elite #3:  [145] The Doom of Malan`Tai; Mycetic Spore w/ Barbed Strangler

Troops #1:  [200] Hormagaunts x25, TS

Troops #2:  [200] Hormagaunts x25, TS

Total = 2000

Army List #5 "Disruption Swarm," should work well Vs. Non-Mech armies.  Place a unit of Biovores one on each flank and attempt to funnel your opponent to the middle of the table for your Mawloc and Ymgarl GS to do their damage.

HQ:  [160] The Parasite of Mortrex

Fast:  [70] Gargoyles x10, TS

Elite #1:  [180] Zoanthroapes x3

Elite #2:  [184] Ymgarl Genestealers x8

Troops #1:  [100] Termagants x20

Troops #2:  [200] Tervigon, ST, CS, AG, TS; Catalyst

Troops #3:  [100] Termagants x20

Troops #4:  [200] Tervigon, ST, CS, AG, TS; Catalyst

Troops #5:  [176] Hormagaunts x22, TS

Troops #6:  [176] Hormagaunts x22, TS

Heavy #1:  [180] Mawloc, AG

Heavy #2:  [135] Biovores x3

Heavy #3:  [135] Biovores x3

Total = 1996

Army List #6  Non-Friendly Tervigon/Termagant Spam.  Great for competitive Objective Missions but very poor for Kill Point Missions.  8 MCs'!!!  This list should be illegal!  5 Tervigons can produce 3-18 Termagants per turn for a total of 15-90 Termagants, so lets say you have a 5 turn game, that can be up to 450 Termagants + the three Troops!  I would hate to assemble all of those little buggers, definitely commission out the assembly of them.

HQ #1:  [200] Tervigon, ST, CS, AG, TS; Catalyst

HQ #2:  [200] Tervigon, ST, CS, AG, TS; Catalyst

Troops #1:  [200] Tervigon, ST, CS, AG, TS; Catalyst

Troops #2:  [200] Tervigon, ST, CS, AG, TS; Catalyst

Troops #3:  [200] Tervigon, ST, CS, AG, TS; Catalyst

Troops #4:  [65] Termagants x13

Troops #5:  [65] Termagants x13

Troops #6:  [75] Termagants x15

Heavy #1:  [265] Tyrannofex, Rupture Cannon

Heavy #2:  [265] Tyrannofex, Rupture Cannon

Heavy #3:  [265] Tyrannofex, Rupture Cannon

Total = 2000

Armylist #7  Competative take all-comers list!  I have used this one a lot and has always performed really well.  The GS outflank reliably from the SL and the amount of Dakka coming from the Carnifexes and Trygon Prime is devestating to infantry.  The Carnifexes can also be used against light vehicles if need be.  Termagants to lurk at a friendly objective.

HQ:  [280+120] Swarmlord; Tyrant Guard x2

Elite #1:  [150] Hive Guard x3

Elite #2:  [180] Zoanthroapes x3

Troops #1:  [168] Hormagaunts x21, TS

Troops #2:  [160] Hormagaunts x20, TS

Troops #3:  [112] Genestealers x8

Troops #4:  [140]  Genestealers x10

Troops #5:  [50] Termagants x10

Heavy #1:  [195] Carnifex, TL-Devourers w/ BLW, Stranglethorne Cannon

Heavy #2:  [195] Carnifex, TL-Devourers w/ BLW, Stranglethorne Cannon

Heavy #3:  [250] Trygon Prime, AG

Total = 2000
